iBUTTERFLY LAUNCH AT SM MEGAMALL

iButterfly was recently launched at the SM Megamall Atrium and the said event was graced with the presence of its elite hosts, eventologists/editor Tim Yap and socialite butterfly herself Tessa Prieto-Valdes together with guests fashion stylist/blogger Jenni Epperson and daughter, commercial model/stylist Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez and daughter, former TV ad model Audrey Zubiri and her daughter.

iButterfly is an augmented reality platform that aims to engage SM consumers through a fun interactive way. SM will give out incentives through vouchers, coupons and other promotions via electronically flown butterflies which customers must catch in order to win or avail.

Using motion sensor for catching these amazing iButterflies via Smartphone that uses either iOS or Android/Google Play, it makes use of Global Positioning system (GPS) in finding and locating these butterfly.  There are actually eight selected SM Malls nationwide that uses this loyalty SM iButterfly program such as SM North Edsa, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Cebu, SM Davao, SM Baguio, SM Fairview and SM Southmall.

This program called iButterfly was first used in 2010 in the key cities of Japan like Kyoto, Okinawa and Tokyo. It is indeed a fun and entertaining mobile information and couponing system.

The first time I heard of this iButterfly was during Easter of this year. It was a promotion for SM Cyberzone in selected SM stores such as SM Cubao if I’m not mistaken. But I have not given it a second look. It was only last May 5, 2012 at SM North Edsa The Block during its launch that I came to understand what it was all about.
