Things You Must Order and Try at Jones All Day Restaurant in Serendra, BGC

Jones All Day Restaurant in Serendra, BGC - Purple Plum Fairy

The wonderful thing about breakfast is that you can pretty much eat it any time of the day and it's socially acceptable. Pancakes for dinner? Hell yeah! Cereal for a midnight snack? No judgmental eyes here, okay? Admittedly, there are those who don't wake up in time for ‘traditional’ breakfast hours (read: the call center agents are pretty good examples). But what's fun about so-called traditional hours anyway?

Here are some of the things I have tried when my husband and I recently visited Jones All Day Restaurant in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City serving up the best all-day breakfasts (with both Bakery and Bistro too!) in town, no matter if it's well past lunchtime.

Jones All Day Interior - Purple Plum Fairy

Jones All Day is a nice place to enjoy breakfast with a pleasing and vibrant atmosphere. The café is right in the heart of Serendra, Bonifacio Global City. Enjoy filling and scrumptious meals at any time of the day with their friendly staff and baristas. Great service along with freshly served dishes makes Jones All Day a nice place to spend your breakfast or lunch or even late-time snacks with. A variety of drinks can be served along with the dishes that they provide from coffee, tea, and sparkling soda or wine depending on their customer’s preference or taste. Jones All Day provides their customers with a variety of meals served with the finest and fresh produce right off the market. Let me give you an idea of what to try and order when you come and visit them. Check them out:

  1. Jones All Day conveniently serves breakfast all day. We're huge fans of the smashed avocado on toast. Their Salmon Gravlax Avocado Toastie is a must-try! Think simple, healthy, and tasty.
  2.  Inject some sugar into your veins with their Crispy Brioche French Toast (P295). It’s a three-berry compote, toasted almonds and crème fraîche

  1. Not after a sugar hit? Jones Schnitzel (P595) composed of golden crisp pork loin, fried egg, anchovies, butter, purple kraut, potato salad and fresh lemon is a winner.

  1. For some of the best hangover food in BGC, pay Jones All Day a visit. Their Mr. Jones Filipino Breakfast (P350) is all you could ever need. It has the restaurant's famous tapa, garlic rice, two cage-free eggs, achara, and fresh orange. It is a breakfast staple that’s really excellent and just don’t believe our words for it. Order them yourselves during your visit. They are the actual best.

  1. Jones All Day also features other brekky faves but they also have power salads if you’re in the mood for something healthy. And if you’re after something that’s filling and yummy but absolutely healthy and guilt-free, order their mean Jones Vegan Bowl (P575). It’s made from totally vegan plant-based kofta balls, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, basil, cilantro, cabbage, carrots, onions, crispy garbanzos, passion fruit-herb vinaigrette.

  1. They also serve house-made handkerchief pasta. We tried their Dan Dan (P395) made from Szechuan chili oil, garlic, cilantro, sesame seeds. But they have other varieties you could try if you aren't into anything with peanuts and a bit spicy stuff.

7. They serve refreshing beverages such as their house-made young coconut, Thai basil, and melon concoction (P220). Made from melon juice, Thais basil syrup, fresh Thai basil, coconut water,  and shreds—who would even think they’d be able to create such an awesome drink? It’s not just a thirst-quencher, it will actually remind you of vitamin sea upon the first sip. There are other drink options as well. I got the Butterfly Iced Tea (P195) while my husband Jason got the Clean and Green drink (P220)--it's a smoothie made from mango smoothie, spinach, lychees, and coconut water. There's also Rosemary Grapefruit Soda (P250) which I have yet to try when I come back for another visit to the restaurant. For matcha lovers, you'd be glad to know they have Matcha Chia Fresh Lemonade at P250. They also have an array of shakes, coffee, and soda water.

8.   If you love breakfast, Jones All Day pancakes will definitely leave you full and satisfied for the rest of the day. If you have children with you share with them chocolate lasagna with ice cream available at their café. Kids aren’t left out as they have a diverse range of desserts which includes Flourless Chocolate, other decadent sweets, and Carmen ice Cream. Check them out today.

9. Jones All Day serves one of the best French Onion Soup known to man (no kidding, I swear, they’re fantastic!). A spoonful is sure to chase away any remnants of a hangover. Seriously, this is one of my favorites that I had enjoyed the most from this bistro + bakery restaurant in BGC.

10.   Get your seafood fix and get it at any time of day at Jones All Day. Just one of the reasons why we luuuve this restaurant. And you can find them all your fave kinds of seafood with one order. (double win). Just ask for their Jones Seafood Tower (P1,295). It’s got everything you’ll ever wanted if you’re hankering for fresh seafoods. They’ve got fresh oysters flown daily, shrimp cocktail, mussels, salmon, tuna & uni sashimi, coctel de mariscos, spicy tuna dynamite, fresh citrus, corn tortilla, nori, saltine crackers. If you want more oysters, just tell them and they can customize the seafood tower according to your liking.

Jones All Day has a number of wonderful all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. We'd suggest a dish, but as the menu changes so frequently, it’s better to just wing it. You may have to wait for a table on weekends, but we assure you, it's worth it.

Regi's Snowy Yule Cheesecake is perfect for the holiday

Snowy Yule Cheesecake from Regi's - Purple Plum Fairy
A friend of mine introduced me to snow cheesecake. Prior to that, I have no idea what exactly it is. Without much hesitate I googled and found out the best ones actually come from this young entrepreneur (yes, only 16 years old) who has come up with the perfect holiday treat called the Snowy Yule Cheesecake from Regi's Cheesecake.

Basically, it is a smooth and velvety confection that has the classic cheesecake sandwiched between a graham crust and a covering of white chocolate, the Snowy Yule Cheesecake is topped with delectable vanilla and white chocolate flavored frosting to create the perfect amount of comforting sweetness in every bite. Featuring a smiling snowman design, just the sight of this cheesecake can’t help but make one feel the cheer of the season even as their imagination transports them to a wintry landscape where they can build as many jolly snowmen as they want.

Petron Gasul Elite innovates LPG with world-class container

Gasul Elite - Purple Plum Fairy

Leading liquified petroleum gas (LPG) brand, Petron Corporation introduces another innovative product in the Home LPG Category with the launch of its new Petron Gasul Elite Composite Cylinder, a new type of container that is superior to regular steel cylinders.

Petron Gasul had always been a trusted brand among the Filipino household because of its safety, quality, and authenticity--it's been long recognized as the gold standard for Home LPG users. The new Petron Gasul Elite sets the bar even higher by introducing the most significant enhancement in LPG packaging since the 1970s.

Petron Gasul Elite is a premium LPG brand that offers the following advantages:

  • EXPLOSION-PROOF. The composite high-strength material is made from a mixture of fiberglass or carbon fibers and a plastic resin. Safety is enhanced as there is no risk of BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion).

  • RUST-PROOF. The cylinder is non-corrosive and will not rust. Thus, it will not stain kitchen floors or cabinets and other surfaces.

  • LIGHTWEIGHT. An unfilled Petron Gasul Elite cylinder weighs 5.45kg, more than 50% lighter than an unfilled regular steel tank that is 13kg.

  • ERGONOMIC DESIGN. Its ergonomic Viking-head design offers a better grip for easier handling.

  • TRANSLUCENT. Thanks to translucent windows on the cylinder, end users can visually check and monitor the LPG level inside the Petron Gasul Elite.

The all-new Petron Gasul Elite was launched at the recently-concluded World Food Expo (WOFEX), held at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall last November 11 -13. Dubbed as the "ultimate food show experience," WOFEX brings together all the segments of the food and beverage industry. The Petron Gasul Elite showcase at what is acknowledged to be the biggest and most effective trade show in the country allowed visitors to see and experience the best Gasul ever.

Petron Gasul Elite - Purple Plum Fairy

As part of its public launch, the Petron Facebook page also featured six Petron Gasul Elite posts, which garnered over 113,000 impressions and 7,400 (6.5%) engagement.

Petron Gasul users who want only the best can trade in their old 11kg steel tank for a new Petron Gasul Elite composite cylinder for an introductory price of only Php 2,500 (not including LPG refill and regulator). The premium brand is initially available in Metro Manila through the Petron Express Delivery service — simply dial #88000 or send a text message to 0917-878-8000. It is expected to roll out to Petron Gasul authorized dealers nationwide by December 2021.

World Diabetes Day: Sweet Talk Your Way Out of Diabetes

Diabetes is a manageable disease - Purple Plum Fairy

The goal of diabetes management is to keep blood glucose levels as close to normal as safely possible. Since diabetes may greatly increase the risk for heart disease and peripheral artery disease, measures to control blood pressure and cholesterol levels are an essential part of diabetes treatment as well.

People with diabetes must take responsibility for their day-to-day care. This includes monitoring blood glucose levels, dietary management, maintaining physical activity, keeping weight and stress under control, monitoring oral medications and, if required, insulin use via injections or pumps.

It was in 2015 that I first learned I had diabetes mellitus. Prior to that, I wasn’t aware I was diabetic. In fact, I accidentally found out about my health right after my right eye bled and I started seeing “floaters.” It turned out I already had diabetic retinopathy. I had my damaged eye undergo two laser treatments/pan-retinal photocoagulation treatment. Unfortunately, the retina on my right eye has been severely damaged and is already irreversible.

My endocrinologist says diabetes may lead to a whole lot of complications. But he insisted that although it is not treatable, it is a manageable health condition. For him, it’s just a matter of healthy living along with a huge change of lifestyle. I know it sounds simple but it is actually difficult to do.

Playing Solitaire and other online games are more than just mere past time

Playing Solitaire is more than just mere past time - Purple Plum Fairy
Playing Solitaire is more than just a past time

Growing up, I’d often see my mom playing cards during her spare time. She would either play cards with her friends who’d come over to our house or she would play games by herself. Mom was a single mom who brought me up all by herself (with some help from her own mom and friends). It was playing cards, particularly solitaire that had somehow helped her during those times when she felt stressed and pressured at work.

Now that I am an adult myself (though not yet a mom), unconsciously, without trying to, I realized I actually do the same thing. However, unlike her, I like playing cards online. I play cards online to veer away from all the workload I had to accomplish. It has become my favorite activity to do during times when I’m getting some mental block or I feel a bit lazy on trying to beat my deadlines.

I hardly know how to play the game but after knowing its mechanics, I’ve realized how easy it was and I got hooked instantly. The game’s first objective is to release and play into position certain cards to build up each foundation, in sequence and in suit, from ace through king. The ultimate objective is to build the whole pack onto the foundations, and if that can be done, the Solitaire game is won.

Online Card Games - Purple Plum Fairy

Did you know that playing Solitaire has numerous benefits beyond killing time? Based on some research, it actually helps boost our memory. Indeed, solitaire is one of the most pleasurable pastimes for most people. It is a single-player game card that involves sorting cards using certain rules. It is also known as a game of patience and since then it has been devised for more than 150 solitaire games.

While others used to play this famous game on the floor or on the bed, since it became available digitally, there’s no need for that anymore. Solitaire has been a staple of digital gaming since 1990 when Microsoft introduced it to personal computers as a way to teach people how to use a mouse. It is originally integrated into Microsoft’s operating system to teach users to maneuver a computer mouse in such a fun and easy way—a skill that replaces keyboard commands at the time.

From desktop computers to phones and tablets, solitaire has been a staple of digital gaming and if you’re going to ask my honest opinion, I think it’s going to stay for good because it was able to maintain its appeal through all these years. Still, I personally don’t think solitaire will go extinct. It is the cockroach of gaming, remarkably flexible and adaptable.

Prostate cancer 9th highest in number of cancer-related deaths among Filipino males

Prostate cancer is one of the top 5 cancers in the Philippines and the ninth highest in the number of cancer-related deaths among Filipino males according to GLOBOCAN. Despite the statistics, awareness of the disease is very low.

The Philippine Urological Association (PUA), together with the Department of Health (DOH), Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc., the Philippine Society of Uro-Oncologists (PSUO), and Johnson and Johnson (Philippines), Inc., led the observance of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month with a series of activities that aimed to generate greater awareness for the disease. With the unified theme Prostate Cancer Sama-Samang Labanan, Tamang Impormasyon Kailangan, efforts were focused on educating the public on the importance of early detection and treatment to slow the progression of prostate cancer.

A lay forum entitled Usapang Prostate Cancer was live-streamed via the PUA Prostate Cancer Awareness Facebook page on September 11 to underline truths about the disease. Representatives from the Department of Health Cancer Control Division and Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc. also joined the discussion to share what support the government and privately funded organizations can provide patients and their families. This was followed by free teleconsultations by members of the Philippine Urological Association and the Philippine Urology Residents Association last September 18. More than 300 Filipino males signed up for the free teleconsultation service.

6 Moving Mistakes You Must Avoid

Moving Mistakes - Purple Plum Fairy

Most people make at least one mistake when moving home. It might be a small one, like forgetting to hand over your old keys, or it might be one that results in huge financial costs and a lot of stress. Either way, a mistake is frustrating, and you want to avoid them at all costs. To help with that, be sure not to make any of these six common moving mistakes.

1: Not Booking Reputable Movers
Moving your belongings is a huge task and often requires help from professional movers. Be sure to research who you hire beforehand, though, as you want your items to be completely safe during transport. It’s also crucial to consider how you will move your larger items, such as extra vehicles that you may own. For RV transport, take a look at Shiply transportation quotes to ensure it efficiently gets to your new home.

2: Buying New Furniture Before the Move
While you might be excited to decorate your new home, you should wait until you are actually inside the new property before buying items to fill it up. The less you have to move, the better. Why make the process more stressful for yourself?

3: Not Labeling Boxes
Forgetting to label boxes will cause a lot of stress when you are in your new home. It might seem quicker to throw a load of stuff into whatever box is in front of you, and while this may be true initially when the time comes to unpack, you'll be faced with a daunting task. So make sure you pack room by room and label each box as you go.

Label your boxes accordingly.

4: Avoiding Booking Time off Work
Booking time off work isn't always simple, but it must be done for big life events like moving house. You might think you can squeeze moving home around your shift, but in reality, you'll be exhausted from all the responsibilities you have to do while moving. So you don't want to rush work afterward as well!

5: Starting Packing Too Late
The entirety of your possessions needs to go into boxes, and it isn't a quick or easy task. So however long you might think it will take, add on at least a couple of days. While you may not want to live in a house surrounded by boxes before the move, it is far better to start early and be over-prepared rather than leave it slightly too late and still be throwing items into boxes when the movers arrive. Nobody needs that amount of stress on moving day!

Pack your bags early to avoid any hassle later on

6: Not Having an Essentials Box
Once the move is complete, your tasks aren't over--you still need to unpack your belongings to make your new house feel like home. It isn't an easy task, though, and certainly not one you'll want to do as soon as you arrive. For this reason, you should pack an 'essentials' box that contains everything you'll
need to get by, for a couple of days. Doing so will give you a chance to unpack at your own pace. You can avoid these six common mistakes as long as you take note not to do them!

Why Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol is my brand of choice?

Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol

We can help stop the spread of COVID-19 by washing our hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds – especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing, or blowing our nose. If soap and water are not available, the next best thing would surely be your good ól reliable isopropyl alcohol. And when it comes to alcohol, I only trust one brand--Defensil isopropyl Alcohol is my choice.

Even with the government's ease of lockdowns and quarantine, health experts continue to remind us that the Covid-19 virus and its variants are still around. So we shouldn't just let our guards down as we gradually try to adapt to the challenges of the so-called "new normal. We must remain vigilant at all times even if 70 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated.

Defensil Isopropyl alcohol is my brand of choice

In as much as I can, I still try to become active by playing badminton. Of course, playing such the fastest racket sport may bring sweat and grime. And using Defensil Isopropyl alcohol can help clean not only my hands but also my racket and disinfect its surfaces. Using alcohol is effective against pathogens.
