Order PSA Documents Online at PSAHelpline.ph: Allow Someone in Your Household to Receive It

PSAHelpline.ph (https://orders.psahelpline.ph)  provides a user-friendly online platform that simplifies the process of obtaining vital documents. By eliminating the need for physical visits to PSA offices, customers can conveniently place their orders online and select their preferred payment method. Once the order is processed, the documents are securely delivered to the designated address.

To maintain the highest standards of security, PSAHelpline.ph requires the physical presence of the certificate owner or authorized requester at the time of delivery. A valid government-issued ID is necessary to verify the recipient's identity and authorize the release of the documents. This stringent verification process safeguards against unauthorized access and ensures that the certificates reach the intended individuals.

Recognizing that unforeseen circumstances may arise, PSAHelpline.ph offers a flexible solution: the Authorized Representative feature. This allows customers to designate a trusted adult household member to receive the documents on their behalf. The authorized representative must present a valid government-issued ID to the courier to claim the certificates. By providing this option, PSAHelpline.ph aims to cater to the diverse needs of its customers and enhance the overall delivery experience.

How does the Authorized Representative Delivery Option Work?

PSAHelpline.ph offers flexibility for those who can't personally receive their documents. You can easily designate an authorized person to receive your PSA certificates on your behalf. This is especially useful for busy individuals or those who might not be available during delivery times.

The applicant will be sent two emails after selecting the Authorized Person to Receive option. An email outlining the order details and payment instructions and a separate email providing a guide for appointing an authorized representative to receive the PSA certificate.

1. Simply click the "Authorized Person to Receive Form" button that is found in the email. This will direct the applicant to the authorized representative page.

2. In the page where you assign an Authorized Person to Receive, click ‘Next” if the applicant agrees to assign an authorized representative who is at least 18 years old and resides in the same household.

3. Applicant chooses an ID from the list to be uploaded and validated.

4. Applicant scans the QR code or uploads a clear image of the ID selected. The system will verify the details on the uploaded ID. To ensure successful validation, make sure the personal information on the ID matches the information provided in the order form.

5. If the uploaded ID is a National ID, the applicant will undergo a face verification process to confirm their identity as a real person.

6. Fill out the form with the personal and contact details of the assigned authorized person to receive.

7. Read and verify the information. If everything is correct, click the ‘Sign Letter of Authorization’ button

8. The Authorized Person to Receive will be successfully assigned with the summary of details shown.

9. If your order is not yet paid, you can now proceed to the payment section.

Your authorized person to receive is now ready to accept your PSA certificate! Have them show a valid ID to the courier for smooth verification and document release.

Exciting updates are coming this New Year! PSAHelpline.ph (https://orders.psahelpline.ph) is always working to make things better, with new features and even more convenient service delivery.

Why are millennials getting middle-age diseases?

Hypertension, cardiovascular disease, obesity, type II diabetes, cancer, and depression are typical health conditions associated with middle age—the result of genetics and years of poor lifestyle choices finally catching up on those in their 50s and 60s.

But such diseases are no longer exclusive to Boomers and Generation X according to top hospital in the Philippines, Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed). Of late, doctors have been diagnosing these diseases in millennials, or those born between 1981 and 1996, making them in their late 20s to early 40s as of this writing.

Per a 2022 report from the Department of Health (DOH), 36 percent of Filipinos 20 years old and above are obese, 20 percent are smokers, 50 to 53 percent are binge drinkers, and 40 percent are physically inactive. Breast and colorectal cancer among patients who are less than 45 years old is also on the rise, says the Philippine Society of Oncologists.

Most alarming is the mental health crisis plaguing not just millennials but Generation Z, whose ages range from early teens to 20s. Global consultancy firm Deloitte revealed in a study that 63 percent of millennials and 50 percent of Gen Zs are experiencing burnout due to the demands of work. There’s also a spike in the number of Filipino youths who have tried to end their life. According to a 2021 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study initiated by the University of the Philippines Population Institute and funded by the DOH, nearly 1.5 million Filipino youth have attempted suicide in 2021. That’s more than double the number of youths who have tried in 2013.

Confluence of factors. Juan Armando D. Diaz, M.D., from the Section of Cardiology, attributes
millennials’ midlife health woes to a confluence of factors. “Work- and money-related stress can lead to high blood pressure, which puts you at risk for stroke or heart attack. Those experiencing chronic stress also tend to cope with bad habits like smoking, drinking, and choosing processed foods over balanced meals.”

Millennial behavior likewise contributes to the early onset of middle-age diseases. “Millennials are very reliant on technology,” says Dr. Diaz. “More time staring at their gadgets for work, entertainment, communication, and online gaming means less time for sleep, physical exercise, exposure to sunlight and fresh air, and other practices that boost health and well-being.”

Act early. Fortunately, you’re never too old—or young—to regain control of your health. “Especially if you act early,” Dr. Diaz points out. “For millennials, I like to remind them that they still have their best years ahead of them. There are places to go, people to meet, goals to conquer—and they need to be in good health to achieve them. Once they realize that, they become more responsible and mindful of their actions.”

Interestingly, Dr. Diaz’s health tips for millennials are the same for mid-lifers. His first recommendation? “Secure your doctor’s approval first before beginning any lifestyle changes to improve your health.”

It’s always good to get some exercise. “Aim for at least 15-30 minutes of cardiovascular activity three to five times a week. Walking is the easiest because it only requires a comfortable pair of shoes,” says the MakatiMed doctor. “You can also get into sports, dance, or putter around the house. Tech-savvy millennials can use a smart watch or app to monitor your number of steps, calories burned, and miles covered—and try to better your stats in the next workout.” Pressed for time? Follow an instructor on YouTube when your schedule permits.

Dr. Diaz also recommends eating a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegetables in every meal. “Choose lean protein like fish and chicken instead of pork and beef. Cut down on processed foods and junk food. Eliminate alcohol, if you can. And drink water. Investing in one of those stainless-steel water bottles can encourage you to hydrate more often.”

Sleep is very important! “Sleep promotes repair and recovery. It’s also associated with weight loss, improved brain function, better mood, and a fresh appearance.” For millennials, Dr. Diaz says getting 7-9 hours of shut eye is ideal. “Gadgets tend to stimulate the mind. Read a book or listen to calming music instead.”

Meet up IRL. Sure, you have thousands of Facebook friends and followers on Instagram but cultivating relationships in person, and not always online, is still the way to go for many reasons. “Seeing friends staves off loneliness, gives you a feeling of belonging, lifts your spirits, and may even prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s disease,” says Dr. Diaz. “Sometimes, just sharing a laugh or a sincere conversation with people who love and care for you is the best medicine there is.”

How to Prepare for the Late Stages of Dementia

Dementia is a progressive condition that affects millions of individuals and their families worldwide. While the early and middle stages of dementia can be managed with strategies for maintaining independence, the late stages require additional preparation to ensure comfort, safety, and dignity. Here’s how you can prepare for the late stages of dementia, whether for yourself or a loved one.

1. Understand the Progression of Dementia

The late stages of dementia are characterized by severe cognitive decline, loss of physical abilities, and increased dependency on caregivers. During this stage, individuals may lose the ability to communicate effectively, recognize loved ones, or perform basic tasks like eating and walking. Understanding these changes can help you anticipate needs and prepare for challenges. For example, swallowing difficulties are common in late-stage dementia, so consulting a speech therapist or dietitian for recommendations on food textures and feeding techniques is essential for proper nutrition and hydration.

2. Plan for Advanced Care Needs

Late-stage dementia often requires comprehensive care. Creating a care plan in collaboration with healthcare professionals ensures medical, emotional, and physical needs are addressed. It is important to decide whether care will be provided at home, in a specialized care facility, or through hospice services, as each option has unique benefits and considerations. If you choose to move into a care home, select one like the East Street Care Home serving South Molton, as they specialize in dementia care, meaning you will get the best possible experts helping day to day.

3. Ensure Comfort and Safety

Creating a comfortable and safe environment is essential. If you choose to stay at home, adapting the living space by removing tripping hazards, adding padding to furniture edges, and ensuring wheelchair accessibility can reduce risks. However, if you don’t want to do this, your best option is to move into accommodation that already caters to this.

4. Communicate with Compassion

While verbal communication may decline, emotional connections remain important. Non-verbal communication methods, such as gentle touches, eye contact, and a soothing tone, can convey love and reassurance. Patience is key when engaging with individuals, allowing time for responses and avoiding overwhelming them with too much information, so if you are helping a loved one through this, this is the one thing you should remember.

5. Address Legal and Financial Matters

It is crucial to address legal and financial issues early to avoid complications later. Establishing power of attorney sooner rather than later ensures a trusted individual is authorized to make healthcare and financial decisions on behalf of the person with dementia. Reviewing advance directives and confirming that documents like living wills and do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders reflect the individual’s wishes is essential. Researching available benefits, such as Medicaid, long-term care insurance, or veteran’s assistance programs, can help cover care expenses.

6. Support Caregivers

Caring for someone in the late stages of dementia is emotionally and physically demanding. Caregivers should seek respite care to take breaks and recharge through services or family support. Connecting with others through support groups can provide emotional relief and practical advice.

7. Consider End-of-Life Care

As dementia progresses, end-of-life care becomes an important consideration. Hospice or palliative care services provide comfort-focused care, emphasizing dignity and quality of life during the final stages. Discussing these options with the healthcare team ensures the individual’s needs are met and their wishes respected.

Conclusion

Preparing for the late stages of dementia requires a combination of practical planning, emotional resilience, and compassionate care. By understanding the progression of the condition, addressing advanced care needs, and supporting both the individual and caregivers, navigating this challenging journey can be done with grace and empathy. While the path may be difficult, prioritizing comfort and dignity ensures that the final stages of life are met with respect and love.

Mapping Manila’s Chinese Temples at Yul Servo Nieto’s Directions VI

On January 15, 2025, the Art Gallery of The Manila Hotel hosted the opening reception of Directions VI, a solo exhibition of Filipino contemporary artist and City of Manila Vice Mayor, honorable Yul Servo Nieto. The event celebrated the fusion of artistry and heritage, as Nieto unveiled a collection of works inspired by Filipino-Chinese traditions and culture.

(From L) Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna Pangan, Manila City Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, The Manila Hotel's Vice President for Sales and Marketing Marketing Marvin Kim Tan

The event commenced with a warm opening remarks delivered by The Manila Hotel vice president for sales and marketing, Marvin Kim Tan, highlighting the institution’s commitment to supporting local art and culture. Following this, the artist delivered a speech sharing his inspiration behind the art pieces and announced that proceeds from the sales will go towards purchasing vital medical equipment—such as wheelchairs, nebulizers, hearing aids, blood pressure monitors, and walkers—to be donated to those in need. Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna Pangan also delivered a few words before joining Vice Mayor Nieto and Marvin Kim Tan for the ceremonial ribbon cutting, marking the exhibit’s official launch.

In Directions VI, Nieto reinvents his signature metal art pieces with elements of modern Cubism, Cartography or the art of map-making, and Assemblage art. Moving beyond his earlier focus on planes, lines, and negative space, he now incorporates everyday objects—bolts, nuts, screws, and hinges—as symbolic markers. These striking pieces pay tribute to Manila’s cultural richness and include depictions of Manila’s Chinese temples and historic districts like Binondo and San Nicolas.

The exhibition’s centerpiece, Temple Splendor, reimagines Chinese temples with golden nuts arranged on a grid-like map of Manila. Complementing the wall-mounted works are two free-standing sculptures—Nest of Healing and Icons of Heritage. Forged from bronze and gold-plated alloys, these pieces explore themes of healing and cultural preservation.

As the Chinese New Year draws near, Directions VI pays homage to the rich traditions of Manila’s Chinese temples. These vibrant hubs of cultural activity come alive with lion and dragon dances, incense lighting, and offerings of lucky foods—time-honored practices that reinforce familial and cultural unity.

Nieto’s latest creations highlight the significance of safeguarding these cherished traditions while exploring new dimensions of artistic expression.

Directions VI is now on display at The Manila Hotel’s Art Gallery. Admission is free. For interested buyers, call +632 85270011 or +632 53015500, or email r.lo@themanilahotel.com.

CCP Spotlights Power of Women in its National Theatre Live Lineup this January

Two powerful one-woman plays exploring life’s complexities – ‘Prima Facie’ and ‘Fleabag’ – open the 2025 offerings of the CCP National Theatre Live.

The Philippine cinema premiere of Prima Facie is slated on January 28, 6pm, at Ayala Malls Cinemas in Glorietta, Makati; while Fleabags returns at Vertis North in Quezon City and Central Bloc in Cebu on the same day.

Prima Facie

Olivier and Tony Award winner Jodie Comer shines in the Suzie Miller masterpiece as a lawyer grappling with law and morality. She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game – defending, cross examining, and winning. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof, and morals diverge.

The play takes us to the heart of where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game. Justin Martin directs this solo tour de force, captured live from the intimate Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End.

Fleabag

Meanwhile, perennial crowd-favorite Fleabag returns to Ayala Vertis North and Central Bloc Cebu on January 28, 6pm. Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and directed by Vicky Jones, it is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life. Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.

The hilarious, award-winning play that inspired the BBC’s hit TV series with the same title was filmed live on stage in London’s West End in 2019. Witness the magic of London National Theatre through CCP National Theatre Live. Through the partnership of CCP, National Theatre Live, and Ayala Malls Cinema, the second season of CCP NTL continues until May 27, 2025.

First launched in June 2009, UK’s National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre live from the London stage to cinemas across the United Kingdom, around the world, and now in the Philippines.

Digitally filmed in high-definition quality, NTL films their plays in front of live theater audiences, but optimized for the big screen and made accessible to theater fans across the globe. Regular ticket price is at Php300 in Makati and Cebu, and Php350 in Vertis North, with special ticket price for students at Php150.

How To Ask Your Partner To Marry You

Proposing marriage is one of the most significant and memorable moments in a relationship. It’s a gesture that symbolizes love, commitment, and a desire to spend the rest of your lives together. Planning the perfect proposal requires thoughtfulness, creativity, and a deep understanding of your partner’s preferences. In this guide, learn the essential steps to make your proposal unforgettable.

1. Reflect on Your Relationship

Before planning your proposal, take time to reflect on your relationship. Think about what makes your connection special and unique. Consider the milestones you’ve reached together, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the qualities you both admire in each other. This reflection will not only affirm your decision to propose but also help you craft a meaningful proposal that resonates with your partner.

2. Choose the Right Moment

Timing is crucial when it comes to proposing. Choose a moment that feels natural and significant. It could be during an anniversary, a holiday, or a trip you’ve been planning for months. Alternatively, you might prefer an ordinary day that you’ll turn into something extraordinary. Whatever you decide, ensure that the timing feels special for both of you.

3. Plan the Proposal Setting

The setting of your proposal sets the tone for the entire experience. Consider your partner’s personality and preferences. Are they someone who would enjoy an intimate, private moment, or do they prefer grand gestures in public settings? Whether it’s a candlelit dinner, a scenic hike, or a surprise gathering with loved ones, make sure the location reflects your partner’s taste and your shared memories.

4. Picking Out the Perfect Engagement Ring

Choosing the right engagement ring is a significant part of the proposal process. The ring symbolizes your commitment and becomes a cherished piece of jewelry that your partner will wear daily. If you want to ensure they love what you select, start to pay attention to the type of jewelry your partner wears. Do they prefer gold, silver, or rose gold? Are their tastes more traditional, modern, or vintage? Then, take the time to learn about the 4 Cs. The 4 Cs—cut, color, clarity, and carat—are the key factors in determining a diamond’s quality and value. With all this undercover research, you might discover they love the style of solitaire engagement rings

Top Tip: If you want the ring to feel even more special, consider designing a custom piece. This allows you to include personal touches, such as a specific gemstone or an engraving.

5. Practice What You Want to Say

Your words during the proposal matter as much as the ring or the setting. Take time to think about what you want to say. Express your love, share your hopes for the future, and explain why you want to spend your life together. Practice your speech, but don’t stress about perfection—speaking from the heart is what truly matters.

6. Capture the Moment

Consider how you’d like to preserve the memory of your proposal. You could hire a photographer or videographer to discreetly capture the moment or ask a friend or family member to document it. These photos and videos will become cherished keepsakes that you can revisit together.

7. Prepare for the Answer

While you hope for a joyful “yes,” it’s important to be prepared for any response. Respect your partner’s feelings and give them the space to process the moment. If they need time to think, honor their request and keep communication open.

Final Thoughts

Proposing to your partner is a deeply personal and emotional milestone. Remember, it’s the sincerity and meaning behind the gesture that truly matters. Whether your proposal is grand or simple, it’s the start of an exciting new chapter in your lives together.

New year, better hair

Our hair is our crowning glory with luscious, healthy-looking locks considered as an epitome of beauty—most importantly, a significant confidence booster. Yet, it is often overlooked in our daily routines. It is time to elevate our hair game this year with tried and tested care habits straight from a dermatologist at top hospital in the Philippines Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed).

Corazon Almira T. Mella, MD notes that no matter your specific hair woes and needs, achieving healthy tresses can boil down to developing healthy habits. “The state of our hair can also reflect the state of our own health and the extent of damage brought by environmental factors like sun exposure and pollution,” says Dr. Mella.

The expert shares that usual hair problems like hair fall, dandruff, frizzy strands, and hair breakage can be tamed by embracing these derma-approved methods of keeping hair healthy and fab.

Great hair comes from a well-maintained scalp. “A buildup of oil, dirt, and hair products can lead to dryness and dandruff. Applying your trusted shampoo to your scalp—not on your strands—is enough to get the job done. Except for those who constantly sweat from exercise, are out in the sun all day, have an itchy scalp, or use lots of hair styling products, skipping a day or two of shampooing is fine,” shares Dr. Mella.

To give the scalp more TLC, the dermatologist also suggests exploring exfoliators and hydrating and moisturizing serums with scalp-healthy ingredients like peptides and glycerin.

Hair is made of keratin, the same type of protein behind human nails and animal feathers, claws, and hooves. “Lean meat, chicken, fish, eggs, beans, and dairy products are excellent sources of protein,” reveals Dr. Mella. “In addition to their protein content, salmon, herring, and sardines also have Omega-3 fatty acids, which promotes hair health.”

Do not forget to add vitamins and minerals into the mix. “Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamin C, which produces collagen, another protein. The antioxidants in vitamins A, C, and E protect the scalp and hair from sun damage. Zinc that is found in nuts and leafy green veggies prevents hair from falling,” says Dr. Mella.

While the debate on whether stress causes hair to turn gray remains unresolved, experts acknowledge that stress does affect hair, the way it does the rest of the body. “Intense, chronic stress can put hair on a ‘resting phase’ that skips the growth process,” mentions Dr. Mella. “It can trigger trichotillomania, or the urge to pull out your hair in tense situations. And although known as an autoimmune disease, alopecia (or hair loss) can be caused by tremendous stress.”

Still got falling hair or an itchy scalp despite your best efforts? The practitioners of the viral 15-step scalp treatment offered in some salons can help. Those who have tried the treatment felt and noticed a big difference after subjecting themselves to the meticulous 90-minute process that includes a series of massages; a galvanic sealing brush (a light electric current softens keratin and sebum, and LED lights kill acne-causing bacteria while encouraging cell growth); scrubs, a shampooing, and a relaxing waterfall spa before hair is re-analyzed and styled.

Ultimately, a board-certified medical practitioner is still your best bet. “Do not dismiss your symptoms and say it is ‘just hair.’ For all you know, what you are experiencing may be rooted in an underlying condition that requires serious attention,” reminds Dr. Mella. “We can offer you the proper diagnosis and prescribe the right medication for it.” For more information, please contact MakatiMed On-Call at +632.8888 999, email mmc@makatimed.net.ph, or visit www.makatimed.net.ph.

A Small Business Owners Guide To Preventing Inventory Issues

When it comes to running a small business, whether you are a dog groomer or you are making ornate, handmade candles for a living, you need to keep a close eye on your inventory.

Inventory management isn't solely about keeping your shelves stocked, whether they are online or physical. It's about aligning the resources that you have with the demands of your clients or customers and creating a responsive supply chain. If you do not manage your inventory well, long-term issues in the supply chain can cripple a small business.

Luckily, such issues are not insurmountable if they are spotted early, and there are many options available for small businesses to overcome poor inventory practices, with relative ease and minimal expense!

So, read on to learn how you can keep your customers happy, without overstocking or spending a fortune on warehousing options for produce or goods.

Establish Relationships with Reliable Suppliers

You will need to develop strong supplier relationships to prevent inventory issues.

Having reliable wholesale suppliers such as UK Wholesaler Supplies will help ensure you have timely deliveries and reduce the risk of disruptions. Establish clear communication channels and opt for terms that allow for flexibility, such as shorter lead times or smaller order quantities. It's also worth looking into backup suppliers in the event that the first supplier has issues with their own delays. It can happen, and you don't want to get shortchanged!

Implement an Inventory Management System

A robust inventory management system is a key way to prevent inventory issues. It is predicted in 2025 that the use of AI will help with inventory management systems and will provide you or your team with real-time insights into your stock levels, sales trends, and reordering requirements. These will be affordable and scalable, which will make them ideal for even the smallest of businesses. The good news is that they will also reduce human errors and will ensure that you always have accurate data.

Adopt a Stock Audit Routine

Of course, having an AI-supported inventory management system does not mean you can scrimp on stock audits! You will need to conduct physical stock audits to ensure accuracy and regular counting and reconciling will help to identify any discrepancies, theft, or damage. Try to do this on a weekly or monthly cycle and focus on high-value or fast-moving items. This approach will minimize surprises and will keep your records, and your stock levels aligned.

Forecast Demand Accurately

Demand forecasting is a skill that takes a lot of experience, but it can be learned pretty quickly. Overestimating demand can result in excess stock, and underestimating can cause stockouts and missed sales. If you are new to this, try to analyze historical sales data and monitor market trends. Speaking of AI, there will soon be options in place for businesses to use and integrate artificial intelligence to get access to more accurate forecasts based on real-time data. So, that's worth looking into, but don't just assume you won't need to develop the aforementioned forecasting skills!
