Freedom from Fear (Kalayaan sa Takot: Roxas-Robredo Platform)

fear
/หˆfir/
verb
be afraid of (someone or something) as likely to be dangerous, painful, or threatening.

synonyms: be afraid of, be fearful of, be scared of, be apprehensive of, dread, live in fear of, be terrified of;

I did not know how far our country fared in terms of its progress (or perhaps I didn’t really cared about it then) until I had the opportunity to travel abroad last year for the first time. In Hong Kong, I have seen a lot of things which I hope the Philippines could also enjoy. For one, they have better and faster mass transportation system, the MTR is interconnected and they even had the fastest train to get you to their international airport in time for your flight. The locals are more disciplined (although I can’t say the same thing from the ones coming from mainland China).

Freedom to Dream (Kalayaan Mangarap-Roxas-Robredo Platform of Governance)

I feel kinda sad whenever I see people hungry and starving. They say, when you dream, dream big. After all, dreaming is free. In doing these, they said your life could at least prosper. I believe that there’s still hope for our country. People just had to believe in themselves. The truth is out there. Do not allow yourselves to believe in the  ‘propaganda’ especially the ones found in social media.

The West Philippine Sea or how corruption pushed us into trouble

One of the most important issues that our country is currently facing is the Chinese incursion of the West Philippine Sea (WPS). It may not be so well-known to many voters but our problems with China all started with a corrupt government.

Back in 2005, then president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo entered into an agreement called the Joint Marine Seismic Undertaking (JMSU) with China and a very hesitant Vietnam. In the guise of a scientific exploration, the JMSU was everything an agreement should never be; secretive, unconstitutional and gravely discretionary. To make a long story short, China used  this agreement so they can gain access to places like the Recto bank and the other islands in the group to take a peek at the riches they hold, in this case, rich natural gas and oil deposits.

Volunteerism is Power

Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, and is often intended to promote goodness or to improve human quality of life. Volunteering may have positive benefits for the volunteer as well as for the person or community served. For this coming 2016 election, volunteerism is very much alive.

In an interview with reporters, Liberal Party Vice Presidentiable Leni Robredo said she was counting on the help of volunteers to power her campaign. "Nag-aanchor talaga ako sa volunteers. Pumasok ako sa race na walang-wala akong resources. Wala akong tao, hindi naman ako nakapaghanda so talaga 'yung sa akin, 'yung volunteers talaga 'yung core ng kampanya," she said.

Why am I rooting for Mar Roxas? Because there’s definitely more to Mar Roxas than just good looks!

Liberal Party Presidential Candidate Mar Roxas

Have you guys made up your mind regarding who will you vote for the 2016 Presidential elections? I once read a Facebook post on my friend’s FB wall where they have discussed the qualifications of each presidential candidates. Each candidate have been subjected to public scrutiny from the time they had expressed their desire to run for office. Among the ones who usually get flak not because of who he is but because of what he has was none other than Liberal Party standard-bearer, Mar Roxas.

I would often hear that some people didn’t like Roxas because of his wife, TV personality/news anchor Ms. Korina Sanchez, who people had this notion of being ‘maldita’ because she’s known to be brutally frank on and off camera. But then, it’s not the wife who’s running for presidency, it’s the husband. And when compared to others, Roxas is indeed one of the most credible ones to run for the country’s highest position. Others don’t like Roxas simply because he’s born with the proverbial silver spoon and the masses thought that he doesn’t seem to relate much with them well.

Roxas is a Wharton Graduate
