Marigold Shower Spa: Your Best Home Service Spa in Deparo Caloocan

Imagine laying on a bed, letting your stress and anxieties melt away as your muscles are therapeutically manipulated with comfortably hot stones. A regular deep tissue massage is incredibly relaxing, but the addition of hot stones makes hot stone massage therapy an increasingly popular pick at Marigold Shower Spa (for both walk-in clients and home service) in that area of BF Homes in Deparo Caloocan.

Hot stone massage is a form of massage therapy which follows the same principles of a regular Swedish massage but with the addition of heated stones, which are believed to better open the body’s energy pathways. Hot stone massage is a form of “thermotherapy” in which hot stones are positioned on specific areas of the client’s body and allow for greater deep tissue manipulation. Massaging oils are used to allow the therapist to work with the muscles easier and the hot stones may be alternated with cold stones or room temperature stones to facilitate the massage treatment.

The Hot Basal Stones used at massages

I went to try the popular hot stone massage at Marigold Shower Spa with friend Erick who happens to be a chef in a fine dining restaurant in Taguig. Being a chef requires him to stand on his feet for long hours each day at work and I feel that he deserves some pampering so I had him accompanied me to try Marigold Shower Spa's hot stone massage.

Kneading with the hot stones keeps all your worries at bay

The stones used for a hot stone massage are usually basalt stones which are chalky grey in color but turn dark once oil is applied to them. Stones of marble are used for the cold stones. The stones are heated to 130 degrees F. and placed strategically along the spine and/or between the toes. The therapist gently rubs the stone into muscles and tissues on both sides of the body; the firmness of the stone couples with the heat enhance the therapeutic benefits of the massage.

As a chef, Erick Sabalza here is being stretched by Ate Mariz, one of Marigold Shower Spa's best therapist

Hot stone massage therapy is a massage protocol designed with the therapist holding the hot stones as Ate Mariz, the therapist performs a Swedish or therapeutic massage. The heated basalt stones become one with the massage therapist’s hands to give the most relaxing massage possible. The heat and energy from the stones penetrate deep into the muscles to achieve a soothing and therapeutic experience. When used with specific techniques, the stones allow the therapist to release tight muscle restrictions more efficiently and with less discomfort to the client.

Being always on his toes, Chef Erick's feet and legs are being massaged here by Ate Mariz

When I asked Erick while he was being massaged with hot stones how was his experience, he gave me a big smile and for me that says it all. He says it was probably one of the most relaxing massages he's ever had. In vernacular, I would say "Masarap humagod si Ate Mariz. Swabe lang, the pressure isn't too hard nor too soft. It is just right for my tissues." I guess this kind of massage is ideal for those with back aches and tired legs.

I've tried the hot stone massage myself a few minutes after Erick. It was also Ate Mariz who did the massage on me. Unlike other masseuse, I was glad Ate Mariz didn't made me feel sluggish or felt like I was beaten up by some gangsters. It usually happens after I had a massage from other spas, but luckily, not this one. Ate Mariz sure knows how to do the therapeutic massage with hot stones.

There are no side effects to a hot stone massage although if your skin is allergy prone, it is wise to mention this to your therapist and discuss the application of massaging oil. Also, if you are pregnant or have a medical condition, check with your doctor to make sure that hot stone massage therapy is right for you.
If you are feeling worn thin physically or mentally, a hot stone massage may be just what you need to reduce anxiety, heal your body, promote tranquility and revive your energy and spirituality. Check out below what it did to Erick. He had that smile all throughout that day. The best part? It won't burn your pockets for Marigold Shower Spa made sure hot stone massage is made affordable so that more people will be able to try it. For Php400, it is considered a steal! And you can have it done at the comforts of your own home too! Yes, because Marigold Shower Spa is actually a home service spa. While Chef Erick was having his massage, I have had my facial and warts removal session at the adjacent room. From relaxing tense facial muscles and alleviating tension in the skin, to supporting collagen and helping aid the absorption of luxurious creams and serums, incorporating a facial massage tool into your daily beauty routine might just be the fast-track you need to flawless skin - and you just need some help from a professional to own one.

Facial to me is just like exercising your body because facial massage promotes blood flow which brightens your complexion, and increases muscles tone to make your skin more taught and lifted. It also encourages skin cell renewal and toxin release reducing puffiness and common signs of fatigue.

The first time I tried it, the therapist showed me my complexion in a mirror after she'd worked on one half of my face and the difference was seriously starling – the treated side was brighter, firmer and significantly more defined. It is deeply relaxing experience with instantly visible results. But don't just take my word for it, you have to really try it to believe. At Marigold Shower Spa, their signature facial will only cost you Php300. And again, it could be done at the comforts of your own home or room. They are a home service spa, so that means they are just a phone call away.

The ritualistic treatment moves through an intense cleanses with steaming, gentle extraction, exfoliation, application of a nourishing botanical placenta mask, toning and moisturizing which extends from the face to the décolletage, shoulders and a hand massage. Yes, she gave me a hand massage during a facial and I was quite surprised. She said it's part of the routine, but it was my first time to receive one during a facial treatment.

Oh, and please look for Abby, the facial therapist who has a decade of experience in skin care and facial routines. She probably has the lightest hand and fingers I had ever encountered. Even the pricking wasn't painful that I almost lulled to sleep. Since I was there, I also took the advantage of having my skin tags and facial warts removed. Warts removal can be both very expensive and painful in other spas or facial centers. But since I trusted Abby, my therapist, I asked if she could also do that. I'm glad when she said she also does warts removal.

Upon approval, the session began. She cleaned my face first, dabbed some cream (anaesthesia) and covered my face with thin sticky plastics. She then asked me to wait for 45 minutes until the anaesthesia takes effect.

After 45 minutes, the zapping of my warts and milia started. The procedure is called electrocautery where a needle or other instrument that is electrically heated is used to burn warts. The pain was tolerable but I absolutely abhor the smell of  a burning odor too, like that of when your decayed tooth material is removed for dental fillings.

The treatment took around 20 minutes. She handed me a mirror after, and I saw my face freshly wounded. Though it’s unsightly, it’s still way better than having visible bumps on my face. I was advised to put on the healing cold cream morning and night until the scars or marks disappear, which will probably take five days.

They say warts and milia are recurring skin conditions, so to avoid ever having them again, I use a facial wash with salicylic acid that deeply cleanses and moisturizes the skin. It opens up clogged pores and reduces acne marks. better yet, visit Marigold Shower Spa if you live within the Deparo Caloocan area.
