A Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Info-Tutorial

To bag, or not to bag: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler for your wallet to suffer the dust and debris of bagged fortune, Or to take arms against a canister of dusty troubles, and by washing clean it?
Ahem. The answer here is “not to bag” as I’m going to sweep myself back to the present and highlight the bagless vacuum cleaner and all its features, good or bad.
You need a good vacuum cleaner. You know exactly what it’s like when your unit is not working properly – debris piles up in the pile and clouds of what you thought you were cleaning drift through the air and resettle in new lands around your home. Check out the top vacuum cleaners.

My San Miguel Bulacan Food and Heritage Adventure Part 1

Purple Plum Fairy at the San Miguel arch
The very first time I had set foot in San Miguel Bulacan was last year when I was tapped to cover the ribbon cutting of the new clinic of the Camp Tecson donated by SM Foundation. However, the said visit was indeed a brief one that I never had the chance to see what the town of San Miguel Bulacan can really offer.

The Cultural and heritage group who visited San Miguel Bulacan

I was privileged enough to be given another chance to visit San Miguel Bulacan again. This time, however, I vow to see more of this place and learn more about its rich history, culture and taste its food. Architect Ervin Garcia, owner of Arki’s Grill together with its town mayor, honorable Marivee Mendez Coronel spearheaded a culinary and heritage tour with my good friend Rence Chan of #walkwithchan fame. Together with the help of other local entrepreneurs and restaurant owners, they had united with that one goal of helping promote the town of San Miguel, not just as a tourist destination but also as a place for foodies to discover.

Purple Plum Fairy's official ID as participant in the said culinary and heritage tour

Some travel to take in the sights, or to raid the shops and markets, while others travel in pursuit of indulging in unique cuisine in foreign lands. Culinary tourism is a growing trend as travelers are becoming increasingly focused on defining cuisine as a true artistic expression of a country's or in this case, San Miguel Bulacan's unique culture.

Culinary tourism is simply travelling beyond your immediate neighborhood to find great food. For me it includes any “tourism experience in which a person learns about, appreciates, consumes, or- dare we say- indulges in food and drink that reflects the local cuisine, heritage, or culture of the place”. The further you travel, the wider the range of culinary experiences enjoyed. It is not about the food you eat; food tourism is not necessarily about dining luxuriously, but more about eating adventurously to seek out new culinary experiences.

We found some of the best culinary discoveries in this quaint town for all the foodies out there. So whether you want to learn more, find a new local favorite or tour the town in search of some of the best food, check out this article!

REP Philippines stages Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale

Rediscover the girl with a very, very, very long hair that does double duty as a rope, Rapunzel, as REP's Theater for Young Audiences brings you the story of Princess Rapunzel in Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale from September 15,2018 to January 27,2019 at the Onstage Theater Greenbelt, Makati City.

REP Phils' Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale

The stage design transports you to the deep dark forest and to the tower of Rapunzel.

REP's Artistic director for Theater for Young Audiences Joy Virata directs and PJ Rebullida choreographs a quirky cast of characters in this updated musical version of the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale with book, music and lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman.

The cast of REP's Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale

We join Princess Rapunzel's story on the eve of her 18th birthday when she is supposed to report to the palace and take her rightful place as queen. But Rapunzel thinks she is only 15. Why? Because like most fairy tale stepmothers, who are usually wicked, Rapunzel’s stepmom, the narcissistic, but delightfully funny Lady Za Za, plans to swoop in after the princess’s time is up and claim the crown for her own. Meanwhile, in other parts of the kingdom, Sir Roderick is looking for a new quest, while his BFF, Edgar, who chose beauty school instead of knight training, is on a quest of his own for the perfect head of hair, and a mysterious gypsy woman is looking for her a powerful piece of jewelry that was stolen from her.

A Beginner's Guide to Investing in Mutual Funds

If you have P100,000 and would ask me what I can invest it in, I would advise you without batting an eyelash, to invest in a mutual fund.   Forget about starting a business with your 100,000.  You know why?  If you really know what business to engage in, you would not be asking me anymore.   You know,  If you have attempted to start a business but failed eventually, then sometimes it pays to look in another direction.   Why go into business with a high overhead and end up with a deficit and eventually even go bankrupt?  There is a better alternative for people who are still surfing about the best business to start, your money is safely managed and it could grow depending on the market and economy.

Now, you’ll probably tell me, but I have no idea what a mutual fund is; what if I lose money in the long run?  Well, this I can tell you, all businesses are risky and all businessmen are risk-takers.   Besides, all businesses need an initial investment, and so is the mutual fund.   Sadly, only a few percent of Filipinos know what a mutual fund is and how it works.   The science of mutual fund is still a vague concept to most Filipinos, but that’s the reason why there are financial advisers and fund managers.

Omron Healthcare and The Philippine Society of Hypertension initiates 'BPrecise' Awareness Campaign

More and more Filipinos are suffering from hypertension without them knowing it
It’s easy to know you’re sick when you have the signs or symptoms. But when your illness is asymptomatic (where you'll just wake up one day and find out you're sick without any warning), that can be very alarming.

Omron launches BPrecise campaign with the Philippine Society of Hypertension

Most hypertensive patients have no symptoms. The known symptoms of hypertension like headache, dizziness, nape pain, and blurring of vision are non-specific and could be due to other causes. The best way to find out is to have one’s blood pressure taken. It's very easy to do and it only takes a few minutes to do it.

Unfortunately, perhaps due to the Filipino diet, based on the national survey released by the Department of Health in 2017, the total number of hypertensive Filipinos is now more than 12 million, with more than half of them are unaware of their condition. Roughly, that is one out of four to five Filipinos in general.

Beyond the Box Wins International Training Competition

Beyond the Box was represented by Arvin Dumo, Training Specialist and Raffy Colico, Training Supervisor

Press release:

Beyond the Box Philippines proudly bagged the championship at an impromptu Training Video Competition at the Bandung Trainers Camp held last July 16-20, 2018 in Bandung Indonesia. Beyond the Box was represented by Arvin Dumo, Training Specialist and Raffy Colico, Training Supervisor. The duo competed against trainers from several countries, namely Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Bangladesh.

The mini symposium and competition on July 19 was given a different twist from the question-and-answer format of previous years. This time around, the camp included participants from nine other countries, which made the competition more intense. “This was not my first time to represent the company in this camp, but this year not only were there more competitors, there was more effort given by the trainers,” said Raffy. “What made it different was the extra effort we all put in to make sure that our message would be easily and effectively delivered to those who would watch our video.” “ Before the competition started we were given guidelines to consider when creating our video, and what stuck with us was to ‘Keep it simple. Keep it local.’ This meant we needed to consider our audience, such as the use of language and terminologies that they are familiar with,” shared Arvin.

The importance of knowing who your audience was underscored throughout the entire process. “You need to be able to simplify what you want to say. And how do you do that? By knowing your audience well.” Raffy, who has been with Digits Trading Corp. for 12 years also shared how trainers can set themselves apart from the rest: “We [trainers] are similar regardless where we come from. What differentiates us is on how we facilitate, how we tackle the topic, and approach the audience so that they learn during each training session.”

During the camp, Arvin albeit being relatively new in the company was also given the chance to talk about the company’s best practices. This competition allowed the Training and Development team, headed by Bodjie Pamintuan to showcase the skills of its trainers, which reflects on the company’s sales team performance and their ability to effectively market to Filipino users.

Beyond the Box is proudly owned and operated by Digits Trading Corp. For the latest on Beyond the Box, follow their page at http://www.facebook.com/pg/beyondthebox.ph or visit beyondthebox.ph Follow our official Digits Trading Corp Facebook account at https://www.facebook.com/digitstrading

Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka Movie Opens On September 19 in Cinemas Nationwide

I vividly recall how devastated I was when I thought my world has crumbled after my narcissist ex has left me to get back together with his younger girlfriend in March of 2017. I have long moved on from that relationship as I am now happy dating someone else. But still, I can easily relate well with a movie like Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka, a movie about a broken-hearted girl who can’t seem to get over her ex. Starring actress/TV host and book author Alex Gonzaga who plays the lead as Jaz Cruz, the said film tells the story of a distraught girl who couldn’t seem to get over her past love, portrayed by hunk actor Vin Abrenica

Writer/Director Fifth Solomon is flanked by singer/songwriter Keiko Necessario and actress Alex Gonzaga

Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka is the first foray into films by Wilbros Films who’s known in the entertainment industry as concert producers and also the very first directorial job by former Pinoy Big Brother alumna, Fifth Solomon who also wrote the said film. Just like every broken hearted girl, everyone goes through that five phase towards complete healing and recovery.

Fifth Solomon, Alex Gonzaga, Jerald Napoles and Joi Agpangan
In the film, Jaz’s seems to associate everything and anything with her ex. I had been through all such stuff too. The places I’ve been with my ex, the love songs I used to sing to him, his words still ringing into my ears—as in practically everything! In my case, I even tried shopping at H&M for a day and spent a whopping amount of P10,000 just to make myself feel happy. I had accepted three kinds of work at the same time (two writing gigs and as social media community manager) in order for me to get busy and hopefully easily forget. I also tried traveling. But in the end I realized that no matter where you are, your thoughts will always be with you. You must really have an outlet where you can express your sentiments and let it all out. Once you’ve cried everything and have accepted that it is where it ends, then it will be a lot easier for you to move on. And it is also important to surround yourself with all the people who love you genuinely like family and friends.

To give you an idea how heartbreaking this film is, check out the movie's teaser:

Singer/songwriter Keiko Necessario performs her own rendition of "Let Me Be The One."
In the movie, Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka, Jaz’s character was given the moral support she needs by her best friend (played by Jerald Napoles) and Doctor Rolex (portrayed by actress Candy Pangilinan) whom Jaz has asked for help to make her forget her ex easier.

Wilbros Films producer with the cast members

Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka is filled with bittersweet memories and “hugot” scenarios that we can all relate to. It promises to make you swoon, laugh, cry and practically grieve with Jaz’s character as she goes along with her many memories.

Restaurant Owners Join Forces to Fight Child Malnutrition

Malnutrition has always been a problem in the Philippines being a third-world country. We see poverty everywhere—in the streets, we see children begging for alms, we see a lot of child labor cases—among many others. And while we thought we couldn’t do anything about the current economic situation, it is such a joy that there are several global humanitarian organizations that have thought of ways to help those who are in need. Action Against Hunger is one of them. It is an organization where in restaurants across the globe has come together to fight child malnutrition.

In the Philippines, the campaign is called “Restaurants Against Hunger,” it runs from October 1 to December 1, 2018. They have actively done this campaign for the past three years. During the said period, participating restaurants will be donating a portion of the sale of specially marked dishes on their menu to projects combating child hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines.

How can an ordinary person help?

It’s so easy. All we need to do as diners is to order and patronize the featured dish/dishes in any participating restaurants. By doing so, we can be part of the said movement to help provide food to the most underprivileged children and their families in the country.

The following restaurants have made their pledges to help and participate in the said initiative, namely: Alba Restaurante Espanol, Aracama, Azuthai, Café Mediterranean, Calderon, Chef LaudicoOK Café, Chelsea Kitchen, Chotto Matte/IIzakaya Sensu, Corner Tree Café, Cyma, Friends & Family, Coconut Club, Green Pastures, Grilla, Ikomai, Ilustrado, Kabila, Museum Café, Providore, Saboten, Sangkap, Simple Lang, Sobremesa, Terraz Bistro & Meetings, Terry’s Bistro, The Old Spaghetti House, The Shrimp Shack, Wild Ginger and The Bistro Group.

“We hope to sign up more before the program kicks off on October 1,” said Action Against Hunger Fundraising and Resource Development Manager Dale Nelson Divinagracia during the press launch held at Acceler8 Co-Working Space in Makati City.

AfterShokz Headphones has arrived in the Philippines

AfterShokz Headphones using Bone Conduction Technology

AfterShokz makes awesome types of bone conduction headphones which functions with little tiny speakers that are jammed into your ears, the headphones have large rubber pads that rest against the bones of your skull.

Bone conduction headphones have become increasingly popular in the music industry. What has been incorporated into the hearing healthcare industry for many years is now being utilized in the music media industry as a different way to listen.

AfterShokz are wireless, open-ear sport headphone made to ensure safety—perfect for runner, cyclists, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. This award-winning headphones deliver the ultimate level of comfort and situational awareness, without compromising on premium sound.

Yes, these headphones are really supposed to be worn with open-ears. At first it looks weird, knowing all other headphones we worn before are designed to cover or plug into our ears, but AfterShokz is different, it’s supposed to settle on your cheekbones. Sick of listening music through your ear canals like a chump? It turns out you can actually hear via the bones in your skull instead.

Playing music sets them vibrating and the fun begins. Listening to music via bone conduction is weird in so many ways. But convenient and fun at the same time. The sound seems to somehow come from inside your head and feels richer yet muted at the same time. To be honest, it gets some time before you get used to it. But when you do, you won’t look back to your old plugged-in-your-ear-earphones/headphones.

AfterShokz Trekz Titanium
It’s important to nestle the headphone pads right up against the bone in front of your ear, otherwise you won’t get the full effect. It does take a bit of experimentation to find the best spot, especially if you wear glasses.

At first it seemed like the sound was only inside your head – like standing in a room full of music that only you can hear. But it turns out if you crank up the volume the headphones are actually very audible to people nearby. While bone conduction does the heavy lifting, a lot of sound does make it into your ears the usual way.

This is how you wear AfterShokz Trekz Titanium

World-class natural remedy for Filipina beauty & wellness expert’s crowning glory

Ms. Cory Quirino for NOVUHAIR

Press Release:

Hair loss is a concern for both men and women. It can have a devastating effect to anyone who experiences it.
According to Web MD, the average adult head has about 100,000 to 150,000 strands of hair and loses up to 100 of them a day, which is normal. As people age, their rate of hair growth slows, and they can experience losing more than hundreds of strands which is quite alarming. So what can you do to prevent it?
For beauty and wellness expert, Cory Quirino, embracing wellness is the first step to help improve the hair’s condition and make people look younger.
“If you choose to have a wellness lifestyle, then expect wonderful changes such as radiant skin, energy, and a general sense of well-being,” she emphasizes. “In time, you will realize that you have successfully delayed the aging process.”
The beauty and wellness expert says that choosing wellness as a lifestyle includes eating nutritious food, exercising, getting a good sleep, drinking generous amounts of water, managing stress, getting enough sunshine, and above all, staying positive.
On top of a daily healthy regimen, a supplement is necessary to maintain a healthy hair and scalp. Many people opt to use chemical-based products. But for her, the use of natural products is a must and the best solution for hair loss.
