THE MANILA HOTEL MOUNTS HATCH 5TH EDITION EXHIBIT AT THE GRAND LOBBY

The Manila Hotel, in collaboration with the Manila Bulletin, will host an exhibit titled "Hatch" for the forthcoming Easter season in the Grand Lobby of The Manila Hotel. The Grand Dame surprises its guests throughout the month of April with the hotel lobby filled with brilliant Easter eggs.

Hatch exhibit features 18 acrylic eggs and it showcases contemporary Filipino artists’ multitude of artworks from different disciplines in one medium. Hatch aims to support the local art scene. Originally, this project was intended to bring together local artists during Easter. HATCH gave the traditional ritual of painting eggs a modern and sophisticated twist by showing the incomparable talent of artists from all disciplines in painting on an uncommon and unexpected material - an acrylic egg.

Featured artists for this exhibit include Addie Cukingnan, Agi Pagkatipunan, Al Perez, Aner Sebastian, Carlito Ortega, Carlo Magno, Cindel Tiausas, Carlos Cee Cadid, Demet dela Cruz, Migs Sebastian, Egai Fernandez, Emmanuel Nim, Jinggoy Salcedo, Margie Organo, Maria Magdamit, Migs Villanueva, Monnar Baldemor, Reen Barrera, Remy Boquiren and Roger ‘Rishab’ Tibon.

Hatch showcases the outstanding talent of artists from several disciplines in painting on an unconventional and unexpected medium—an acrylic egg—to give the traditional practice of decorating eggs a modern and fashionable twist. The artists were challenged to adapt their various styles to the medium.  The amazing collection of Easter hatch eggs is hand-painted by reputable Filipino craftsmen. Each egg uses cutting-edge materials to create a unique mixed media design, while others opt for a more classic look by painting with oil or acrylic on resin. These Easter eggs are truly works of art. The concept is to give life to or transform a mostly static and lifeless object into a dynamic work of art.

The Manila Bulletin took home the gold prize for its "Hatch" project at the 55th Anvil Awards night. Hatch has provided Filipino artists with a fresh and distinct medium.  Hatch exhibit was moved from city to city rather than remaining in one place where visitors were introduced to a new art genre.

The said exhibit is on display at the Grand Lobby of The Manila Hotel from March until the end of April 2023.
