What can Chiropractors help you with?

If you happen to experience an aching back or a stiff neck, you might benefit from a chiropractic adjustment. They aren't necessarily medical doctors but they are still trained medical professionals who use their hands to relieve pain in the spine and in other affected areas of your body that needs the necessary adjustment.

In my recent blog post, I had shared with you my very first visit to Mabuhay Chiropractic Clinic where I had my assessment by Nick Fleming, the resident chiropractor at their SM North Edsa The Block branch.

Chiropractors do not hold medical degrees like doctors have but they do have extensive training in chiropractic care and are considered licensed practitioners. Even in the Philippines, they have the Department of Health (DOH) accreditation.

Chiropractors treat various issues and conditions which involve the following: muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, cartilage, and the nervous system. During treatment, your chiropractor performs what's called manipulations using their powerful hands and sometimes they even use instruments as well. The manipulation helps with a range of body discomforts such as neck pain, back pain, pelvic pain, arm and shoulder pains, leg and hip pains etc.

I was also surprised to know that chiropractors are safe even for pregnant women as seeking chiropractor care during pregnancy (near delivery time) can help realign the pelvis which may help babies to get into a good position in time for their delivery (head-down position). But of course, you have to tell your physicians too prior to seeing a chiropractor.

I had accompanied my aunt (whom I had referred to visit Mabuhay Chiropractic Clinic) to see my chiropractor. My aunt had difficulty sleeping at night and had muscle spasm issues. My aunt is a senior citizen and although this isn't her first time visiting a chiropractor, she was given some physical tests by the chiropractor so that he would know my aunt's limitations when it comes to her body's flexibility. She was surprised to hear popping and cracking sounds as the chiropractor applied controlled pressure to her joints.

The chiropractor also gave lifestyle advice to my aunt such as exercise suggestions which she can work on every day. These are corrective exercises to help her with her treatment.

Overall, chiropractors do provide holistic treatment for the whole body and not just for a specific area of the body that needs treatment. In order to help manage the condition, you have to see your chiropractor regularly depending on your body's condition. It's basically a case to case basis.

The first time I posted about my visit, I had been flocked with messages on chiropractic care. People would ask me if the treatment was painful and if it were expensive. The truth of the matter is that my visit (and every visit) had been truly easy and I hadn't gotten hurt at all. There is no pain even if you popped your bones or hear them cracking. In fact, it had given me instant relief. It felt like going to a spa for a massage when instead of relieving muscles alone, you are correcting and aligning bones which is beneficial to your health for a long period of time. As for being expensive, I don't think it is, given the fact that it gives you instant relief from pains and aches. I wouldn't really mind shelling out money for my health, I think it's better than wasting money on say drinking coffee in a fancy coffee shop or splurging money on online stores.

You may want to set an appointment with Mabuhay Chiropractic Clinic. You can find one nearest you by calling 888-CHIRO (24476) OR visit www.chiropractic.com.ph or email npc@chiropractic.com.ph You could also follow them on Facebook and on Instagram.
