Keep your smile bright and healthy by brushing up with Glister, Amway’s oral care brand

Glister Oral Hygiene

We have our mouths and teeth to thank for everything, from expressing ourselves to savoring every beautiful meal. Given the amount of wear and tear our teeth endure, it's not surprising that they're brittle. We are continually exposed to variables that might contribute to cavities, gum disease, and even tooth loss.

GlisterTM, the popular dental care brand of Amway, the entrepreneur-led health and wellness organization, makes a case for paying greater attention to our teeth, especially now that the Department of Health has discovered that at least 73 million Filipinos suffer from tooth decay.

Dr. Anna May Carina of General Dentistry & Orthodontics tells us that many foods and drinks that we commonly consume today, such as soda, ice cream, cakes, and other sweet cravings, have a negative impact on our oral health.

"When we consume too many of these foods and beverages, we are not assisting our saliva in its job of clearing away food debris and neutralizing acids." They remain on your teeth for a longer period of time than only produces an oral environment in which bacteria can thrive, increasing your risk of plaque formation, which can eventually remove your tooth's protective enamel," explains Dr. Carina. "While we cannot totally eliminate all of these foods and beverages from our lives, we can mitigate their impact on our dental health.

The dental care expert points out that the solutions are something people already know about but tend to take for granted. She underlines that brushing our teeth twice a day is the standard as this will help destroy or remove harmful bacteria inside the mouth and prevent tartar buildup before it hardens into position.

“This is something we all know, yet many brush their teeth without intention. If you really want to keep your teeth strong, brush them for at least two minutes each time and gently move the brush back and forth in short strokes. Make sure to brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of the teeth,” reminds Dr. Carina.
