Hi, Hope: A Unique Gallery that Revitalizes the Lost Feeling of HOPE through the Five Human Senses

MentalHealthPH, a non-stock and not-for-profit mental health organization dedicated to fostering a culture of mental well-being in the Philippines, announces its latest initiative: "Hi, Hope!" This groundbreaking event seeks to cultivate hope as a potent antidote to despair, offering a lifeline to those grappling with mental health challenges.

In partnership with Caring Cup by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Ad Hoc Marketing, and Pool Party Creatives, MentalHealthPH invites you to join "Hi, Hope!" an on-ground, immersive event designed to reignite the flame of hope through a sensorial journey. The event will take place at Kitchen by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Net Lima (Six/NEO), at the Bonifacio Global City on April 27, Saturday. The program will commence from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by an open gallery until 7 pm.

At "Hi, Hope!" guests will embark on a sensory exploration, engaging with five unique stations tailored to each human sense:

Sense of Sight—Gallery of Hope: Delve into a visually captivating gallery featuring symbols of hope from suicide survivors. Each exhibit is accompanied by a poignant backstory, offering insight into how these symbols became beacons of hope. QR codes allow guests to connect directly with the creators for a deeper understanding.

Sense of Hearing - Stories of Hope: Experience the power of linguistic artistry as survivors share their stories of hope through poetry and narrative performance

Sense of Touch - Free Hugs: Find solace and reassurance in the warmth of a hug at our designated free hug station, offering comfort to those in need during the event.

Sense of Taste - Affirmation Cookies: Indulge in words of encouragement and hope with affirmation cookies featuring messages from survivors and uplifting quotes, replacing fortune-telling with affirmations for the soul.

Sense of Smell - Aromatherapy Area: Immerse yourself in a soothing oasis of scents at our aromatherapy area, where guests can relax and reflect amidst the calming aroma of scented candles and incense.

In the battle against suicide, hope emerges as a powerful ally capable of guiding individuals toward a future filled with possibility and purpose. We can create a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued by fostering hope, nurturing resilience, and extending support.

Additionally, "Hi, Hope!" will be hosted by mental health advocates and attended by various mental health personalities.

Join us at "Hi, Hope!" as we embark on a transformative journey to revitalize the spirit of hope and resilience. Let us pave the way towards a brighter, more hopeful future.

SM Cares and DENR-NCR celebrate World Oceans Day with special plastic waste collection program

In observance of World Oceans Day, SM Cares held a special version of its Plastic Waste Collection Program in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) to underscore the importance of adopting sustainable habits such as reducing plastic consumption and planting trees.

Conducted simultaneously in the following SM malls: Megamall, Mall of Asia, North EDSA, Fairview, Southmall, East Ortigas, Marikina, and Marilao, the activity supported DENR-NCR& Community PanTREE, a program that was launched in 2021 with the aim of providing free fruit-bearing seedlings to encourage urban and backyard gardening.

Participants who brought at least 1 kg of plastic waste each got a free seedling from the Community PanTREE. More than 700 kg of plastic was collected through the activity and has distributed 700 pcs of seedlings across the 8 collection venues.

“The goal of this activity is to help divert plastic waste from ending up in landfills and bodies of water while also giving the participants the opportunity to grow their own trees,” said Director of SM Cares &  Program on Environment Engr. Liza Silerio.

SM’s Plastic Waste Collection program has gathered over 16,000 kg of plastic for re-processing since it began in 2021. Currently available in 12 SM malls, it is just one of SM Cares' numerous sustainability projects. The pioneering Trash to Cash recycling market and the E-Waste Collection Programs round up the initiatives on solid waste management. Other projects include the annual Green Film Festival, which promotes environmental awareness; the AweSMSeas project in partnership with the USAID and PRRCI, which promotes responsible plastic waste management; and the International Coastal Cleanup which gathers thousands of volunteers every year, among others.

Through these efforts, SM Cares supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),particularly "SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation," "SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities," & "SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production,"& "SDG 13: Climate Action," "SDG 14: Life Below Water." & "SDG 15: Life on Land".

Buy Avon’s Free as a Butterfly Blue Leatherette Watch and help the Crusade Against Violence for Women and Children

Every woman deserves to live freely. Sadly, in the real world, many still face the realities of abuse. The abuse ranges from physical abuse to sexual ones to verbal and emotional abuse—they all come in different forms. 80% of women are still subjected to abuse worldwide.

Why is that so? We don’t have a language of boundaries, of saying no, of disappointing people with avoidance or declining to engage instead of engaging in a conversation we know will be toxic. We don’t ever say, “I don’t want to talk about that” or “You can’t speak to me that way.”

Belle De Jour's Freedom to Dream Summit held at the Red Carpet Cinema

Belle De Jour's Freedom to Dream

Shangri-La Plaza in cooperation with Viviamo! Inc. makers of the Belle de Jour Power Planner headed by Darlyn Ty-Nilo, President of Viviamo!, collaborated to organize the first Freedom to Dream Summit at the Red Carpet with an exciting roster of speakers.

Panel of speakers during the Q & A were Doc Gia Sison, Gretchen Ho and Rezza Soriano
The summit was indeed very timely as most women need self-love and self care in order for them to see their self worth. It was nice that there are groups such as these that initiates these three important things that women nowadays would oftentimes tend to forget.

Dr. Gia Sison, a mental health advocate

I actually had a speaking engagement that same day from my alma mater where I was given the chance to share my experience working after I graduated from college. But I couldn't let this opportunity pass by, I'd love to see my favorite Twitter icon Doc Gia Sison in person. Dr. Gia Sison, a mental health advocate was one of the distinguished guest speakers for the first talk called "Raising Self Worth," with life coach Rezza Custodio Soriano and Gretchen Ho, TV host and lifestyle news anchor.

The next session was about Ïgniting your Passion" which encourages people to fin their purpose and to do their best in order to achieve them. The saud talk featured Prim Paypon of The Dream Project PH along with Aimee Hashim of LoveLuxe Trading Inc.

Avon Philippines introduces fundraising products for its advocacy against gender-based violence

Avon PH ambassadors Ruffa Gutierrez and daughters Lorin and Venice Gutierrez
Asia Pacific is the most disaster prone region in the world and faces a growing number of conflicts and protracted emergencies, which disproportionately affect women and girls. Luckily, there are a number of NGOs as well as private companies like Avon Philippines scaling up to give responses to gender-based violence in emergencies, integrating sexual and reproductive health serviced and strengthening the humanitarian-development-peace-nexus.

Sadly, violence continues to affect millions of women around the world—in fact, some of us may have experienced or witnessed them. Every woman has a story of abuse, harassment, or rape, or fear of not being believed or belittled. It has spawned the #MeToo movement in the first place to take action, and it’s long past time for them to come to an end. The number speaks loud and clear: 1 out of 4 married Filipinas have experienced abuse from their partners; 3 in 5 Filipinas have been sexually harassed in their lifetime; while online harassment has victimized mostly women aged 15 to 35.

In celebration of the Women’s Month, Avon Philippines, one of the companies that has long supported women’s causes renews its promise to help alleviate violence against women and girls as part of its recently launched global advocacy called Stand4Her. It aims to improve the lives of 100 million women by advancing their earning potential, freedom of expression, empowering them and making sure that they live a safe and healthy life.
