Moulinex You Cook Video Challenge Year 2 Grand Winner


Last January 28,2012, eight student chefs from top schools in Metro Manila had a cooking showdown, held at the Concourse area of SM Makati. These student chefs were the grand finalists for the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year2.
The aspiring chefs went head to head in their last showdown, where they were able to use their acquired culinary skills, creativity and passion as they cooked the most delicious recipe they can produce, given a set of random ingredients such as pork liver, crab, salmon, squid, milkfish, blue marlin, shrimp, and catfish.



Contestants were judged according to the following criteria:

Palatability (25%)
Creativity/Originality (20%)
Visual Appeal (15%)
Ease of Preparation (15%)
Optimization of Moulinex products (15%)
Audience Impact (10%)
At the end of the said cooking competition, it was Leonelia De Castro of MOST Institute emerged as the grand winner with her Spicy Crab dish. She also won the best in plating. She won P40, 000 from Moulinex, Stay-and-Learn Scholarship and Internship Program from InterContinental Hotel Manila, and she’ll be joining the Demo Tour along with the Moulinex Marketing Team bringing her to some parts of Manila and the provinces as well. The school she represented and her mentor also received lots of prizes from valued sponsors and partners. Halson Lapuz of First Gourmet Academy was the runner-up. He also received prizes from the sponsors.

During the Grand Finals, the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2’s People Choice award was also given to Joemary Grace Balza from Maligaya Institute of Culinary Arts and Residential Services, who garnered the highest votes online via the Moulinex Philippines Facebook fan page. The winner also received prizes from the sponsors.
Lucky audiences also received prizes in a raffle held as they wait for the winner to be proclaimed during the competition. The Grand Finalists’ respective teachers and classmates were also present to cheer them and give the participants moral support.

Congratulations to all the winners of the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2!  Kudos and thanks to Moulinex Philippines for coming up with contests such as this, giving culinary students a chance to showcase their talents. We sincerely hope that one day culinary students from the provinces could also join this contest.

Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2 Semi-Finals


The Moulinex You Cook is a culinary competition where entries are submitted in video clips showing the ingredients and procedure through a cooking video using Moulinex food preparation products.  This contest is open to currently enrolled Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management students within Metro Manila aged 18 years old and above.
This year’s competition heats up as the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2’s People’s Choice Award is launched on Moulinex Philippines Facebook Fan Page and the official website http://www.moulinexyoucook.com/

Anyone of the 16 Semi-Finalists has the chance to win this title. The voting system will close on January 27, 2012 at exactly 12 midnight. The participant who garnered the highest number of votes will be proclaimed winner and shall receive prizes from Moulinex valued partners and sponsors.

This year’s judges are:

Laurent Casteret (Food & Beverage Director, Intercontinental Hotel Manila)
Rory Subida (Culinary Directress/Manager of Maya Kitchen Culinary Arts Center)
Chef Nino Laus (Passionate for Asian-European fusion cuisine, entrepreneur, multi-awarded chef)
Nina Daza-Puyat (Daughter of the Philippine Culinary Icon Ms. Nora Daza, Editor-in-Chief of Appetite Magazine)
Chef Bruce Lim (Filipino-Chinese Chef, schooled in London, Entrepreneur, TV Producer and Host)

From the 20 collected valid video entries for Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge 2 from 9 participating schools, 16 top qualifiers were screened and evaluated by three qualifying judges, namely Mr. Noel Rama, Ms. Rory Subida and Mr. Laurent Casteret.

Held last January 14, 2012 at the Legaspi Room of Hotel InterContinental in Makati, the Semi-Finalists competed for the slots of the top 8 Finalists for the Championships. In this round, each contestants had 1 ½ hours to cook their submitted recipe and was judged according to the following criteria:

Taste: 30%
Mise En Place/Ease of Preparation 20%
Creativity/Originality 15%
Visual Appeal 15%
Optimization of Moulinex Products 15%
Personality 15%

Cooking enthusiasts like me are looking forward on January 28, 2012 where 8 Student Chefs from top schools in the Metro will be having a cooking showdown as they vie for the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2 Grand Winner. Up for grabs for the Grand Winner will be Php 40,000 from Moulinex, Stay and Learn Program from Hotel InterContinental Manila and a demo tour with the Moulinex Marekitng Team. The school represented by the winner and his or her mentor shall also be receiving lots of prizes from the participating sponsors.

Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Contest





Calling all culinary students from Metro Manila-based schools and institutions: 
This is your chance to shine and make everyone proud! Moulinex Philippines invites you to join the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge 2.
Nowadays, with a huge variety of home video equipment enhanced digitally by technology, producing a video recipe is as easy as 1,2,3. Video recipes give one an opportunity to record the critical processes and techniques of food preparation as well as its presentation.  With the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge contest, culinary students from all over the Metro will have the opportunity to produce their own sumptuous recipes on video and have a chance to win amazing prizes not only for themselves, but also for their mentors and their schools. 

So if you guys are up for the challenge, here are some tips given by the distinguished panel of judges for this year's contest. I have here a short video where the likes of Chef Bruce Lim, Ms. Nina Daza-Puyat, Appetite Magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Chef Nino Laus of Ninyo Fusion Cuisine Restauraunt and Ms. Rory Subida of The Maya Kitchen had given their respective views on what they'll be looking forward to see in your video recipes. 








Contest Eligibility: The contestant must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled as a student chef for a diploma or certificate course from any culinary school or a Hotel and Restaurant Management or equivalent from any college or university in Metro Manila.  Purchase of Moulinex products is not required.
Recipe Requirements: They must create an original recipe based from this year’s theme: Filipino and International Fusion Cuisine. And they must clearly show the food ingredients, standard measurements, complete preparation instructions, cooking time, temperatures and number of servings. It has to be prepared using at least one Moulinex appliance (Moulinex shall provide the appliances to participating schools upon request, at least 3 days before the day of use.) The video has a maximum allowable time of 10 minutes.

The video must be sent on a CD format with the downloadable entry form (found on their website at www.moulinexyoucook.ph) + picture of the contestant + curriculum vitae and a copy of the contestant’s school I.D. (to prove that he/she is currently enrolled). There will be 16 semifinalists, 8 finalists and 1 Grand winner, 1 Runner-up + 6 consolation prizes. 
Criteria for the video will be the following:
Creativity + Originality—20%
Ease of Preparation—20%
Optimization of Moulinex Products—20%
Visual Appeal—15%
Video Presentation—15%
Pleasing Personality—10%
Prizes at Stake:
Grand Prize Winner:
Contestant: P40,000 cash, Stay and Learn Program inclusive of an overnight stay of Intercontinental Hotel, Moulinex Master Chef Tour, gift packs from sponsors and a Certificate of Recognition.
Mentor: P5,000 cash, P5,000 worth of Moulinex products and gift packs from sponsors.
School: P25,000 worth of Moulinex products and an F & B/Cooking Seminar for selected students courtesy of Intercontinental Hotel.
