Andrea of The Corrs Live in Manila for The Lifelines Tour

Press Release--Coming from a 4 year hiatus, Andrea Corr of The Corrs is back on stage once again with the same angelic voice and irish accent but a more personal and sensitive take on her music as she includes the Philippines in her world tour to share her new creations from her album Lifelines. Andrea of The Corrs will set foot in the Philippines for a two night concert, first at the Araneta Coliseum on October 16 and at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu on October 18. The concert is produced by Dayly Entertainment (Yellowcard, The Script, All Time Low and Westlife) and new concert producer Karpos Multimedia by arrangement with foreign companies Rockstar Touring, LAMC Productions and Solo.
Andrea is the lead vocals and tin whistler of The Corrs who previously consisted of a quartet of siblings Sharon (violinvocals); Caroline (drumspianobodhránvocals); and Jim (guitar, pianovocals). The group came to international fame with their performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, and their support of Celine Dion on her 1996 Falling into You Tour. With a line of the greatest and most memorable hits, “What Can I Do”, “Runaway”, “Breathless”, "All the Love in the World", “So Young”, “Radio”, “Forgiven Not Forgotten” and many more, the group have released fivestudio albums, live DVD’s and numerous singles, which have reached platinum status in many countries and ended up as anthems for everyday occasions such as weddings and the likes.
While her siblings concentrated more on family building than hit making, Andrea pursued a solo career in music. It was in 2007's debut Ten Feet High that provided Andrea with her first venture into solo stardom and a project away from a band that she had been emerged so deeply within for over ten years. Andrea was given the platform and the chance to do things on her own.
This year, May 2011, Andrea Corr released her second studio album Lifelines with the lead single “Tinsletown in the Rain”. The album also consists of song covers from the artists The Velvet UndergroundKirsty MacCollHarry Nilsson to Ron SexsmithNick Drake and The Blue Nile. Triumph Inspiration Awards 2011

The professional runway awaits fab designs featuring models.

Press Release--The Triumph Inspiration Award (TIA) is an international design competition that challenges fashion students to create a lingerie showpiece for the year’s design theme. The TIA is by one of the leading underwear manufacturers, Triumph International. It is now on it’s fourth year and the culminating events were previously held in Beijing, Milan and London.

This year the TIA was held in Berlin, Germany on July 6, 2011 during the
Mercedes Benz fashion week.
Triumph International was founded in Heubach, Württemberg, Germany in
1886. The company is also celebrating its 125th year in the industry as an
underwear manufacturer. All design entries to the TIA were inspired by the
slogan “125 years of celebrating women.”

More than 2,100 young designers from all over the world joined the TIA
this year. 37 countries participated and the winner in each country’s
nationwide competition was sent to the TIA finals in Berlin.

The accomplished panel of judges composed of model and actress Lily Cole,
star photographer Ellen von Unwerth, the model and photographer as well as
face and ambassador of Triumph Essence Helena Christensen, the
international singer Coco Lee, the owner and CEO of the Premium Exhibition
GmbH Anita Tillmann and Jos Berry who is Brand Executive Director for
Triumph were introduced to the press in Nhow Berlin, a music and lifestyle
hotel.

The Triumph Inspiration Award 2011 was a sexy visual treat from all over the world. The models paraded each designer’s art gracefully. The audience
connected to the designs as if they almost understood the statement of the
designer without listening to the audio being played in the background.

Some designers opted for color but most of them chose the neutrals such as
black, white, nude and beige for their sexy creations. Others played it
safe and kept the designs simple yet stylish and elegant but Belgium’s Tom
Van Der Borght was bold enough to design a matching headgear that looked perfect for winter as part of his entry.

The Philippines' very own, Pristine De Guzman of School of Fashion and the Arts represented country in the TIA 2011. She was inspired by the power dressing of the 80’s and incorporated Triumph’s history as a corset maker in her design.
Instead of the usual hidden boning in corsets, she made it visible outside
to create a stronger silhouette. According to her, “women of today are
strong, reliable and powerful, they are not afraid to take center stage as
winners and leaders of the world.”

Beauty & Power Piece by the Philippines' Pristine De Guzman.
Leung DeLeon's Marketing Theresa Leung and Claudine De Leon flanked singer and TIA 2011 Judge Coco Lee and Triumph's Denise Kahn.

As soon as George Lamb announced the winner, Ms. Boglárka Bódis was
visibly touched and moved when her design was presented on the runway for
the grand finale. “I still can’t believe that I won! The past days were so
exciting – and I am very proud that “Les Fleurs du Mal” impressed the
judges the most!
Lily Cole graced the catwalk in Boglárka Bódis’ winning piece. That was a
great moment for both Boglárka Bódis and Lily Cole!

1st place: Boglárka Bódis from Hungary with the design Les Fleurs du
Mal

2nd place: Nurten Yüksel from Turkey with the creation Hezârfen

3rd place: Diana Bobina from Romania with the creation AVA 1236

The Prize

The TIA winner, Boglárka Bódis from Hungary, received a cash prize of EU
15,000 and Triumph will work with her to produce a limited edition
commercial garment of her design. This would give Ms. Bódis a significant
career boost as Triumph continuously reaffirms its promise of “perfection
in female shape.”

Westlife: The Gravity Tour 2011 @ the Big Dome

I remember it was in the late 90's that started the boyband craze in the Philippines. New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), BoyzIIMen, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Moffats, Boyzone and Westlife were some of those groups that became popular then. Most of these groups had already disbanded like NKOTB (they lead separate lives already), Nsync's Justin Timberlake went solo, 98 Degrees' Nick Lachey also went on his own, later marrying Jessica Simpson and then Vanessa Minnillo. We never heard from Moffats again. As for Westlife, the group that originated from Dublin, Ireland--people thought they had also called it quits & because they seemed to have become inactive since then. Westlife was established in 1998 with five members named Mark, Shane, Nicky, and Kian and Brian (left the group in 2004). With Pop ballad style, Westlife has quickly become one of Europe's top boybands after a lot of love songs like my fave song back then entitled Fool Again, Flying without Wings, Seasons in The Sun, My Love or I Lay My Love On You. In 2009, Brian McFadden, left the group.

I could still recall some of them since I had also been a follower of those groups way back then. Although I'm not really an avid fan, I know they had a lot of following, some of them used to adorn their rooms with pinup posters of those amazing boys.

Westlife have now reached a huge 3 million fans on Facebook! To celebrate this achievement the boys have recorded a ‘Thank you’ message for their fans.
Check out the video below.

Westlife fans will be glad to know that they will be coming to the Philippines this coming September as part of their The Gravity Tour 2011Westlife are excited to announce the release of their new Greatest Hits album which is due for release later this year. To date, 25 Westlife songs have reached the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart, 14 of them reaching the Number 1 spot. In addition to their chart hits, Westlife have announced that there will also be some brand new songs featuring on the album.

Westlife The Gravity Tour 2011 one-night only concert will be held on September 29, 2011 at the Big Dome, Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao. The Philippines is only one of the Asian destinations of the popular boy band along with Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. Tickets are now available at the Araneta Center Ticketing Office & at selected SM ticketing outlets.

Johnsons Baby Cooling Bath: The newest product from Johnson & Johnson Baby Products Line

The new Johnsons' Baby Cooling Bath

I had recently received a parcel brought by a courier. I was just about to leave the house when it arrived. Excited like a child with a surprise birthday present, I immediately looked for a sign where it came from. I found out the package was from Johnsons’ through Nuffnang. And upon opening the parcel, it was a gift pack that contains two bottles of 300ml of Johnson’s Cooling Baby Bath, two white cotton baby towels, and a small rubber duckie in a cute reusable neon green tote.

Check out the cute & colorful tote bag with the products inside.

My family had always been consumers of Johnsons Baby products. I grew up using their products from their baby powder, baby lotion, baby oil, and baby cologne. So when I had Kyle, it was but natural to choose the same products as well. Using Johnsons Baby products had somehow become a family tradition—products used in the family from generation to generation.

Going back to the new Johnson’s Baby Cooling bath, I later learned upon seeing on TV that it was Ms. Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo endorsing the said product on her baby Lucho. So what’s so special about this product you may ask? Well, this product is perfect for a tropical country like ours. For one, it had a natural honeysuckle extract that helps cool and soothe our baby’s skin. Meaning to say, when we use the product on our baby, he’ll feel refreshed and invigorated! It’s perfect for a hot & humid day, assuring babies will have a peaceful nap since he’d feel fresh.
The letter from Johnsons with a small rubber duckie too.
I tried using the product on Kyle, even if he’s already eight, his skin remains sensitive even up to this day. But since Johnsons had been our brand, I feel safe using it on him even for the very first time. I know that Johnsons’ products are hypoallergenic and dermatologically-tested which are safe for babies.

Each morning, I had to wake Kyle up so that he won’t be late for school. Usually, I’d have a hard time making him eat breakfast even after he’s had his bath. But not with Johnsons’ Cooling Baby bath. Upon his first use of the said product, it kind of perked him up for breakfast. “I like the smell, it energizes me,” says Kyle when I asked him how did he find his new bath wash. Now, after taking a bath, I need not worry much if he’s going to be weary on the breakfast table because Johnsons Cooling Baby bath helps to stimulate his senses, thereby making him ready for school. Hmm...I won't be surprised if one day, I'll be trying this product on myself. If it's good for babies and kids, it must also be good for mommies too, right?

Johnson’s Baby Cooling Bath is now available in the market. The good news for all the moms out there is that, it is available in a limited edition 300ml (yes, with 100ml free!) bottle—buy the 300ml bottle for the price of 200ml bottle.

Purple Fairy thanks Johnson & Johnson Philippines and Nuffnang Philippines for the free sample/gift pack.

Growing up with Jollibee: And fulfilling my dream after three decades later

the author with Jollibee!

I had waited three decades for this thing to happen. (Wait, am I revealing my age too much?) Oh, I was glad when it finally happened last August 6, 2011 at the Ronac Art Center in Ortigas Center. I had a confession to make: I had long wanted to have a photo opportunity with Jollibee (as in only Jollibee and I, without any other kid/person) ever since I was a kid. I thought it would never happen since everywhere Jollibee went, kids and adult would mob him just as typical fans do when they meet their idols! Kids love Jollibee and so does the adults who grew up loving him(this author included).

Admit it or not, most Filipino babies even learned to say Jollibee (or Jobee, however they try to pronounce it) after knowing how to say Mom or Dad or any other words. It seemed like a very normal thing for Filipino families. And it wasn't just some kind of a "trend" for nearly after more than three decades of existence, Jollibee is still popular among kids of all ages. I guess it all boils down to the fact that Jollibee was able to maintain its mass appeal, the very reason why it's well-loved.

I looked forward to Sundays as a child not only because it's a family day and church day, but more so because after hearing mass we would all go straight to Jollibee Coronet (yes, the one in Cubao, Quezon City--the first Jollibee branch in the country) and eat my fave Jollibee treats. However, we didn't had the chance to celebrate our birthday parties at Jollibee because my mom didn't had the budget for it. That's why as a child, I would relish moments I had each time I get invited to Jollibee kiddie parties by friends and classmates. It meant games, foods, prizes and fun time with Jollibee and friends. I had attempted before to take snap photos of Jollibee and me a couple of times in the past. But as it seemed, luck had never been on my side back then. It's either, there's a child behind us or worse children all around Jollibee.

Imagine my childhood dream turning into a reality some three decades later. Call me stupid, but I still believe in making my childhood dreams come true. It was quite fast, the minute I saw Jollibee, I immediately stood up and grabbed my camera. Had I become shy to not ask my mom to take shot of Jollibee and me, this wouldn't have been possible. You know what made it special? Voila! I had Jollibee all to myself! What a first time! And my mom also asked me to take a picture of her with the friendly guy mascot too. I'm not alone after all. Maybe my mom also had that desire to have her picture taken with Jollibee all to herself in the past years. Hmm...just maybe, it wouldn't hurt to make your dreams a reality no matter how too late.

A Jollibee Fan Forever,

The Golden Quest for the Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers: Media Launch

Kyle and I were recently invited to the Quest for the Golden Nuggets held at the Ronac Art Center in Ortigas Avenue. Moms and kids enjoyed an exciting journey to discover the latest treat from Jollibee, the Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers.

Sweet treats await all media guests.

See this human board game?

It was quite unfortunate on my part though, since I had just come from a bad fall the day before (I had been suffering from sprain) after I landed on my butt from a wet floor at the Araneta Coliseum, I had to bring my mom with us to substitute for me on the said event. There was a human board game where moms and kids teamed up to finish both mental and physical tasks in a race to reach the Golden Key and unlock the treasure chest where the Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers box was hidden.
The author's mom and Kyle ready to take on the challenge.
There were celebrity mommies who participated in the said game such as Christine Jacob-Sandejas, Patricia Hizon, Lexi Schuze and Romina Urra-Gonzalez with their children who gamely joined in the fun with various games and challenges. It was great seeing families bonded with their kids and cheered on them on every activity.

The red team looked both excited and anxious here before the game started.

Kyle with his favorite friend/mascot, Jollibee!

Kyle shows off his caricature in Captain America outfit.

My own Mom didn't hesitate a bit to have this photo op with Jollibee.

From left: Host Jinno Rufino, with celebrity moms and kids: Lexi Schulze (in red), Patricia Hizon (in blue), Christine Jacob-Sandejas (in yellow) and Romina Urra-Gonzalez (in Green)

The Green Team composed of Mommy Bloggers, Media men and their kids.

This box says it all--the good nuggets!
“Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers offers the best of both worlds—flavor and fun in a healthier package—to moms and kids. We wanted them to experience this first-hand so the event was packed with exciting and informative activities that put their minds and bodies to the test, all the while letting them enjoy the nutritious and delicious taste of the ‘good nuggets’,” says Coleen Nuguidula-Ducusin, Jollibee marketing manager.
Golden brown for that crunchy goodness in every bite!

The first time I saw the Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers ad on TV, I got interested to try it right away. I wanted to find out what makes it different from the ordinary chicken nuggets we have in the market. I soon found out it had more than I ever expected. For one, where else could you find a nugget with veggies on them? Yes, Mommies. The new Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers is made of seasoned tender chicken and real carrot bits, assuring us all that it’s fortified with Vitamin A for healthier eyesight. Not to mention, it also had beta-carotene, a precursor for Vitamin A.

Here I had taken videos during the actual game. Sorry I had only used my phone for these videos, so forgive me if you find it quite chaotic. But just to give you guys a glimpse of how fun it had been for the rest of the guests, I am sharing these amateur videos I had taken from the said event.

Personally speaking, I salute the people behind this Jollibee treat for making kids eat their veggies inside their favorite chicken nugget meals without much prodding. Kyle loved it so much; he can finish two boxes of the Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers in one sitting! They say kids never lie, so you better believe it. He even said that he couldn’t believe that healthy foods can be delicious.

Rest assured Mommies that your kids will love this new treat from Jollibee. It’s served with a sweet barbecue dipping sauce. And here’s the best part: Kids can now enjoy it in a Jollibee Kids Meal complete with rice, regular drink and featured collectible toy for only P98. It can also be enjoyed ala carte for only P75, as value meal with rice and regular drink for P99, or with regular fries and drink for P110. Truly, giving us a good value for our money.

Jollibee had once more proven that nutritious can be delicious with their newest food offering. “It is very important for us at Jollibee to continue to innovate so we can offer the best products and services to Filipino families, especially to our favorite customers, the children,” adds Coleen Nuguidula-Ducusin, Jollibee marketing manager.
Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers is now available in all Jollibee branches nationwide for dine-in, drive-thru or take-out. For delivery, call Jollibee Express Delivery Service hotline at 8-7000 or log on to www.jollibeedelivery.com

Keep watching Jollitown, now on it's 4th season, every Sunday at 9AM on Abs-cbn channel 2.

Would you like to read my food review on this healthy new treat from Jollibee? Read my related food blog post on this one.

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. I just wanted an honest review on the food product, the opinions are 100% my own.

Purple Plum Fairy thanks Jollibee, Ms. Chele Mendoza, Ms. Mela Segismundo and people behind Stratworks Inc. for the invites.

xoxo,
