The Day We Almost Lost Kyle

January 26, 2011 1:45PM

I had decided to take a nap after lunch that day.  An hour later I found myself waking up and I realized Kyle hasn’t been home yet. I looked at the clock…2PM. Kyle should be home by now since his class dismissal time is at 1:15PM.  Whatever happened to him, I wondered. A few minutes later, there was a knock on our gate.  Then, I heard my mom’s voice screamed from downstairs, “Hurry up, something happened to Kyle.”
I immediately went down to help assist Kyle. And then I saw him—all pale with bruises on his head and left hand, wounds on his left elbow and the bridge of his nose with a mix of sweat, blood and tears flowing on his face. He was accompanied by a thirty-something man (who turned-out to be the culprit, the tricycle driver who hit him) and a girl passenger with a pc on hand.
We couldn’t just let it all pass—I asked Kyle if there’s something that hurts. He said there was a throb on his head, hurting really bad. My Aunt Nelly asked for the man’s name, his tricycle’s body number (yellow Hi-Top bound #36) as well as his contact details. The guy even pleaded not to bring the incident to the baranggay (local government unit)—and that he’s willing to assist if there’s anything we need.
After Kyle had finished eating his lunch, we asked him again if his head still hurts. He nodded. We had all agreed to have him examined at the hospital. I texted the man named Erwin, I told him we better be sure that Kyle’s fine and that there’s no need for us to worry.  My aunt Nelly called him and asked him to help us bring Kyle to the hospital for further medical examination. Erwin agreed, but explained that he needs to borrow money first so we had to give him a little more time. Although we did not report the said incident to the baranggay, someone must have seen what happened and we later found out that one of our kagawad (councilor) Budang, knocked on our house and extended a few help in taking Kyle to the hospital.
When Kyle got to the hospital he was given tetanus toxoid vaccine right away, they also gave first aid to his wounds before they’ve screened him for necessary X-rays such as the elbows and nose. It was such a good thing that everything turned out okay. Indeed, Kyle’s guardian angel must’ve saved him and spared his life.
It was a day of lessons for us all: For Kyle, to be extra careful and examine both sides of the street before crossing (Never to run again), for us, to fetch Kyle to school—it’s best to be safe than sorry.
According to Kyle this near-death experience had taught him about life, , that any given moment you could lose your life or that of your loved one. While at the emergency room, Kyle saw all the different kinds of patients and he saw a young boy about his age whose mouth they had to stitch because it didn’t stop from bleeding.  “The boy was crying so bad, it probably hurts so much,” says Kyle.  “I was afraid of my own injection but I figured, his case was much more painful than mine. I prayed to God to keep that boy safe,” he relates.
We almost lost Kyle that day. And we keep thanking God he’s still with us at this very moment.  No matter how annoying he could sometimes be, we still love him for beyond that lies a kind-hearted child longing for a love he could never have.
And to you who was supposedly beside Kyle during that time he needed you the most, thank you for simply texting us to know how he’s doing.  At least, it had shown that you somehow cared for him.  I hope it’s not too late for you to show him your love. He’s given another life, you should shower him with all the love you’re supposed to give him. You know who you are, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to mention you here. I know you might not be bale to read this, but for those who know you, please make her realize how irresponsible she could be. She’s the only one he’s got, and yet where is she? He’s beginning to think he’s not from you, and although WE SAID HE’S REALLY YOUR FAMILY, he felt otherwise.  PLEASE TRY YOUR BEST to make up to him. Kyle really felt bad that you were not around and you didn’t make any effort to call.
Kyle with his fave cartoon hero, Spiderman.

I thank everyone who sent in their prayers and help, Special thanks to Ate Nelly, and Kyle’s class adviser, Teacher Gregoria Ruste.

Circulan 4 in 1 solved my problem

A box of Circulan was an answer to my prayers.

Being overweight had brought me hormonal problems.  I don't have monthly periods on a regular basis. I never liked to take pills because it takes its toll on me. I would either have more appetite or I'll have extreme migraines if ever I'd be popping pills to regulate my period. When a friend of mine introduced me to Circulan 4 in 1, I swear I thought she's getting it all wrong. Why would I need a food supplement in the first place? But I tried it just the same, I figured there's no harm in trying it out. it wouldn't be approved by BFAD if it's not safe.

When I started taking Circulan 4 in 1, I had no idea if there's gonna be some side effects. And yes, there was a side effect...I've observed I sleep earlier when I pop on the pill. And eventually, I was surprised that after about more than a year, I had my period back. Circulan even helped regulate my period. Now, i have no more worries...It was an answer to my prayers. I sleep well and I no longer have hormonal imbalance as I get my period regularly now. Thanks to Circulan.

Circulan 4 in 1 is available in leading drugstores nationwide.

On Counting my Blessings

A shot I had taken online from Nuffnang's site.

It's only the beginning of the year 2011, and I am speechless with all the blessings I have received. This early I have so much to be thankful for. i won in the Nuffnang and Nutroplex Top of the Class Blogging Contest (Best Story)--It was something I had not expected in the first place because I thought I write too much. One blogger I know even said that she finds reading my blog posts really boring that reading them lulls her to sleep. I'm sorry if this is really the case, i just love writing so much that sometimes, there are tendencies for me to write really long blog posts. Anyway, winning that blog contest gave me some kind of confidence. It had given Kyle a Muji study table and chair and P8k worth of gift certificates from Fullybooked. The latter meant that I could finally regain the mini library that I had lost from super typhoon Ondoy in 2009. I had once blogged about losing my interest on books after my precious collections submerged in flood water--I could vividly remember how I tried my best to dry my books and save them with a hair blower--drying them page by page. Other hardbound books, I grieved and cried for them an entire week. God must have finally heard and answered my prayers, He had restored my interest for reading books again.

Then, I had also finally repaired my mac mini. I've had it reformatter and upgraded from a Tiger 10.4 to a Leopard 10.5. As of this writing, I am still trying to adjust with its new operating system and with its new specs to boot--its got iWeb, Time Capsules, Space among others. I am forever grateful to Liza Abrigana for referring me to Ynzal Marketing after Apple's Power mac Center had denied me. And to Mr. Nomer, the technician who was very patient and helpful in answering my inquiries. Thank you so much!

I was able to find a new therapist for kyle as well. It's quite difficult for us to travel to Culiat each Thursday afternoon, especially after Kyle's classes--but I trust the Lord God that it will all be worth the trip. I hope to see improvements in Kyle's behavior soon. I'm giving it a time frame...

To those I may have wronged, I ask forgiveness...
To those I may have helped, I wish I did more...
To those I did not help but SHOULD have, I ask for understanding...
And to those who HELPED me big or small, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I thank God for Facebook

Jennifer Mesina and Moi...

2010 had been a pretty good year for me. I thank God for Facebook as I've been able to trace and finally reconnect with old time friends of mine, friends i have loved and cherished since grade school. I thought I would never see them again.

In January, I had the chance to meet with Jennifer Bucsit-Mesina when she went home from the US and we managed to have a small get-together with former neighbors and childhood friends, Grace Ramos-Arevalo and Helen Pagulayan-Norcio. It was nice seeing all of us together after more than a decade.

Moi, Helen, Grace and Jhing.

In October, I had a chance to meet up with another grace school friend, Rona Apostol. She was the same warm Rona that I knew from way back, with some distinct variations. For one, she now sports longer hair and sometimes speaks with an American twang, an indication of her long stay in the US. Too bad, I had not had the chance to bid her goodbye because I've gotten sick during her stay in the Philippines.
With good friend Rona Apostol

As if that wasn't enough, another childhood friend Marisol Peralta also came home in December of 2010. We had the chance to organize a small gathering of friends and teachers close to our hearts. It was some sort of a reunion through Marisol's initiative. I had been lucky to see old friends like Fritziefil Tagalog a.k.a. Ching Del Rosario,, Joy Olaivar-Almazan, and Joanne Tuanquin.

The rest of the gang with Mrs. Martinez.

What's more? I even made new friends in Mrs. Mila Martinez, Mrs. Villareal, Eric -Fritzi's beloved and Richard mark Soliven a.k.a. Don Soliven. It really felt good seeing all of us bond together. It's just like the old times except that we've pretty much matured not just in the way we look but also in wisdom. I had had a lot of fun that night that how I wish it never ended. But I know I could not perpetuate the moment. Doing so would mean not moving forward and seeing the bright future. As the calendar turns its last page, there lies a new beginning.
Marisol still had that smile, check out our Grade 3 class pic, and see what I mean...

Pretty Fritzie after all these years...

With Joy Olaivar-Almazan

Soon, Fritzi's about to give birth to another bundle of joy. Joanne and Rona would hopefully find the right guy for them, Joy and hubby will soon have their own baby, Mrs. Martinez' and Mrs. Villareal's health will be even better, Marisol will walk down the aisle--and for me, to hopefully wishing in all stars to lose weight.

I wish I could see more of my other friends like Nina Jeremiah Kaiser, Luningning Tecson -we all wonder where is she now?, Dorothy May Bernardo, Patricia Anne Fuedan, Anna Mae Adra, Oliver Cabitac, Allan Delon Reyes, Karen Bernal, Mary Jo Valenzuela, Ruth Garcia, Sheryl Custodio etc...

Looking forward for a new year...hopefully seeing all of you again in the next few years...God bless everyone!

Loveyah!

Holy Seat: We can now pee in peace

Our best defense against germs and bacterias.

Toilet bowls are one of the dirtiest, most vile, most disgusting surfaces in the world. Fortunately, there's Holy Seat Toilet Seat Cover and Handy Sanitizer Spray. It doesn't matter whether you sit, squat, or stand, save yourself from the lurking evil in the bowels of the toilet. Just place on the seat of the bowl for the cover, or spray generously all over the bowl to disinfect for protection from disease-carrying invisible germs. That fast and easy. Now, we can all pee in peace.

What's more? disposable seat cover is 100% biodegradable and made from wood pulp.

My Shuji Kida Salon Experience

The facade of ShujiKida Salon in Greenhills.

I was quite hesitant to go to this upscale salon knowing fully well that I'm not really the type  of person who'd pamper herself or one who's used to availing salon services and aesthetic products on a regular basis.  But i decided to give it a try. ShujiKida Salon isn't your ordinary salon. Their services were a bit expensive to begin with, imagine getting a haircut for P600-European style and for the Japanese style, they charge P900--I figured, it must be reasonably priced. However, it promises a great salon experience, making you feel like a celebrity.
Do I look like I don't want myself to be photographed? That's because the answer is yes.

Shuji Kida gives one a personal care. Unlike other salons where you can just walk-in, this special salon needs you to set up an appointment early on. You need to book your schedule. And one doesn't end up in a couch waiting too--the minute you step into their salon--they'll accomodate you as soon as possible, VIP style--similar to those in Beverly Hills. That's probably what makes Shuji Kida a cut above the rest.

I later found out that my P600 worth haircut was indeed reasonably priced--during the shampooing and hair conditioning, I received one of the most relaxing hair and scalp massage I ever got that must have sent me to dreamland if I had not been strong enough to fight my sleepy head. The massage was a whole lot better than all the other hot oil massage I had received in the past.

I'm trying to fight back my sleepy head as the stylist trims my hair.

I actually had no plans of blogging about this trip to the salon but since Kyle had taken photos while my hair was being trimmed, he had become sort of my unofficial photographer after he gulped down two glasses of iced teas and a pack of choco biscuits--he got bored so he took photos of me. I figured, I'd better make use of them so I my sharing with you my Shuji Kida Salon experience.

If you want a great pampering hair experience just like mine, come and visit Shuji Kida Salon.

Pulp up your Blog: My Minute Maid Experience

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe... I should give it a try knowing fully well that it came from a trusted company-the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard it’s got no preservatives added.  So I read the ingredients (even the fine print) and everything checked out! It really has NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED!  That means it doesn’t have ingredients that may turn out to be allergens, or worse...carcinogens!  Whew! Now that’s healthy goodness that tastes so good, I... Yup, I began to realize that something healthy could actually taste good too.

So okay, it’s got no preservatives added. That’s really good, right?  Not just because it doesn’t have those icky, harmful ingredients, but it also means... I'm drinking something good for my body without any harmful ingredients or preservatives.

So far anyone who still has a hard time believing that Minute Maid has got no preservatives added - meaning it's THAT natural, it's almost like it's plucked straight from the tree, it's just as Mother Nature wanted your orange juice to be, it's got nothing but the good stuff yes, none of those potentially toxic stuff that can harm your brain, kidneys, heart; cause tumors aargh- the list of preservatives' bad effects just go on!!! Anyway, just to prove a point on just how good Minute Maid Pulpy is 'cause it's got NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED, I'm gonna recommend all my friends and relatives to drink and guzzle down a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange drink daily!

Feels good to know about the real pulpy deal, right? C’mon show me a smile on the comment box, and you might win yourself a Really Pulpy Deal! (That’s a chance to win a Minute Maid gift pack simply by commenting. Sweet! C'mon you just might be picked as the lucky 'commentor'!)

Love,

Vance
